Perfect for a weekend reset or an extended stay. Your mountain sanctuary awaits! The space Escape to Almost Heaven, a modern mountain retreat tucked inside a private wildlife refuge in Canaan Valley. Built in 2022 and situated on 2+ private acres, our four-bedroom, 2.5-bath home is the perfect place to relax after a day of skiing, hiking, fishing, or exploring the mountains year-round. Our community offers private access to Dolly Sods which is only accessible to anyone staying in the Old Timberline community. You can walk to the entrance from our house (~20 minutes uphill) or drive up to a private parking lot (~5 minutes). Our community also has private access to a variety of hiking trails (for various levels), 2 large beautiful lakes with maintained trails, and a stocked trout pond for catch and release fishing. This is the perfect place to unwind for a weekend or longer with friends and family. The house is thoughtfully equipped for both relaxing getaways and longer stays, featuring: - A fully stocked kitchen with indoor and outdoor dining room spaces - Well appointed bedrooms and bathrooms with the amenities you would find in your own home - 6 seater Hot tub - Two living spaces with 50 inch+ Smart TVs and FUBO access - 300 bps wifi and remote work spaces - Minisplit to stay cool during warmer days (installed July 2026) - Coffee bar with multiple brewing options - Propane fire table and grill - Shuffleboard table - Record player, books, board games, and toys for kids - Large open yard for games and outdoor activities We are located just: - 5 minutes — Private Dolly Sods access, Spruce Lake, Sand Run Lake, hiking trails & boardwalks - 5 minutes — Timberline Mountain & Mountain Owl coffee shop - 20 minutes — Davis, WV (Stumptown Ales, Hellbender Burritos, shops & cafes) - 25 minutes — Thomas, WV (Purple Fiddle, restaurants, galleries & live music) - 25 minutes — Blackwater Falls State Park - 35 minutes — Seneca Rocks We also provide many everyday essentials to make packing easier, including laundry detergent, dishwasher soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, cleaning supplies, paper products, foil, and more. Seasonal Notes: Winter Canaan Valley sits above 3,000 feet and receives significantly more snow than surrounding areas. During winter months, guests should plan to arrive in AWD/4WD vehicles or carry tire chains, as mountain weather can change quickly. Summer Thanks to the cool mountain climate, summer temperatures in Canaan Valley are typically mild, with cool evenings and overnight lows that make sleeping comfortable. That said, some days can be warmer so we have installed a Minisplit AC unit on the top floor to help you stay cool throughout the summer. We’re always happy to help guests plan hiking routes, ski weekends, and local adventures during their stay. Guest Access Guests have access to the entire 2+ acre property, excluding the owner’s closet and utility room. Parking is available for up to 4 vehicles, and community access requires a guest form submitted to the guardhouse prior to arrival. Good to Know - A motion-activated security camera is located on the front porch facing the driveway Discounts available for 30+ day stays. A guest form will need to be filled out and provided to the community guardhouse for entrance. Guests have access to the entire 2+ acre property, except the owner’s closet and utility room. Other things to note Fires - No open fires, guests may use the propane fire table on the deck. Unfortunately due to insurance restrictions guests are not permitted to use the wood stove. Access - Guests will be provided with a unique code to enter the property. Trash - Trash must be disposed of at the trash compactor on the way out of the community, it cannot be left on the porch Please inquire about parking for campers or RVs.
