Stunning boathouse on a working farm

Escape to The Boathouse, a peaceful lakeside retreat on a working organic free-range egg farm in the Sussex countryside. Just a 10-minute walk from Ditchling village, it’s ideal for country walks, cosy pubs and local shops. Perfect for two, the boathouse offers water views, a rustic open-plan space, equipped kitchen a restful bedroom and outdoor shower. Relax on your private deck, light the fire pit, enjoy a BBQ and feed the fish. The farm is active year-round and sometimes hosts festivals. The space The Boathouse is a cosy cabin with a kitchenette including a fridge, sink, kettle and essential crockery. Inside, you’ll find a table with seating and a comfortable double bed. Outside, a private deck overlooks the small lake, with a large fire pit and deck chairs stored in the shed. There’s a covered BBQ area with a hob for simple cooking. To the side of the cabin is a fully functioning outdoor toilet and sink, plus an outdoor shower with views across the lake. Parking is right beside the cabin for easy unloading. Please note, due to its size, the Boathouse is not wheelchair accessible and we do not allow children under 12 due to the over-water nature of the cabin. We do not have WiFi at The Boathouse and mobile reception is patchy! Guest access You’ll be staying on a beautiful working farm, and guests are welcome to wander and enjoy the surroundings. At weekends we often host buskers and street food traders, and our Nest Box Bar opens, serving locally produced drinks, cocktails and ice creams. If you’re lucky enough to stay during a festival weekend, you’ll receive free tickets to join the fun. The charming village of Ditchling is just a 10-minute walk away, with some wonderful places to eat, drink and explore. Other things to note The Boathouse is on Macs Farm a working farm & campsite. During the Summer we have regular activities and if you are lucky enough to be with us on one of these weekends you are very welcome to join us! Mon 3rd - Thurs 6th August Wilderness warriors Experience the great outdoors with our 3 night camp packed with activities inc. a forest school for the kids! Saturday 15th August 5-11pm 80s & 90s Silent Disco Two DJ’s will go head to head in a battle of the decades! Saturday 23rd + Sunday 24th August Wild Meadows Weekender Get ready for an EPIC Bank Holiday celebration at our Wild Meadows Weekender We do not have WiFi at The Boathouse and WiFi is patchy. We do have a television which can connect via USB to your phone should you wish to watch downloaded films.
