There are trails for biking, hiking, skiing, snowmobiling, and four-wheeling all within a mile of the little cabin. You are also able to kayak, boat, swim and water ski on Higley. Come to Colton and enjoy a little bit of peace and quiet and a lot of fresh outdoor air and beautiful starry nights. This tiny little house is all yours. You will have a full kitchen, living room, two bedrooms and a full bathroom. There are two beds and the couch is comfy for sleeping also. There are plenty of opportunities to hike and exercise right from the door of the little cabin. The cabin is located on an acre of land surrounded by trees and easy access from the road. I love to meet new people and I love the outdoors. I can take you places if my schedule permits and if not, I have lots of ideas and recommendations for you. Colton uses a bacteria called Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis, or Bti, to target black fly and mosquito larvae that develop in local bodies of water. Dr. Michael Twiss, Ph.D., Professor of Biology at Clarkson University, is a microbiologist and limnologist (study of lakes) who is familiar with the Town of Colton's Bti program. He says that Bti is a variant of the bacterial species, Bacillus thuringiensis, which is a common larvicide for caterpillars. "It works in the same way, in that the bacteria produces a protein that's highly toxic to certain types of larvae of insects, specifically, in this case, mosquitoes and black flies," said Twiss. He explains that Bti is normally found in soils, but to treat black fly and mosquito larvae, it is dispersed in water.
