The Caboose on Mayberry

Welcome to our mid 1900s caboose TP&W 527 and step back in time. Unwind and relax as you settle into your retreat. Enjoy the view from the cupalo as you browse through one of the books on board, or sit at your dinette and enjoy a board game. Sit out back in one of the adirondack chairs around your own private fire pit and enjoy s'mores, or just a peaceful evening. The caboose has been completely renovated and many modern convienences added. You'll love this unique and romantic escape! The space The caboose is a piece of living history and many of the features are original to the caboose. During the renovation, every effort was made to preserve original elements, but more than a few things were updated to today's standards. Inside, you will find a custom tile shower, bathroom, kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker, a double seat dinette, and last but not least, modern heating and air conditioning. The wood stove can be used during the cooler months and creates a cozy atmosphere in the living area and bedroom. We provide wood during these times. The queen sized bed is equipped with a pillow top mattress and Egyptian cotton linens. Original candlelit railroad lights hang on the bedroom walls. Custom monogrammed bath robes are provided for use during your stay. Wifi is available. A bluetooth radio is also onboard. Outdoors, there is a firepit with a supply of firewood. Roasting sticks are provided for s'mores or hot dogs. 2 adirondack chairs provide comfortable seating around the fire. The caboose is in a private corner of our yard and we do our best to ensure your privacy. By design it is unlikely you will see any of us during your stay, except perhaps for our outdoor cat, he does what he wants! The caboose does have blackout curtains as well. Other things to note Our caboose is in a private corner of our backyard. We make every effort to ensure our guest's privacy, and it is unlikely that you will see us during your stay unless there is a maintenance need. You will access the caboose with a short walk down a cobblestone pathway. There is limited parking, 1 vehicle only.
