Tsubaki House～Traditional Kyoto Townhouse

Thank you for opening my page. This Tsubaki House is renovated Kyoto Townhouse which I made with all my heart together with architects and carpenters. I was born in Tokyo but I and my British husband are deeply interested in Kyoto traditional architects and arts. My interest has become deeper and deeper through tea ceremony experience, which is one of my hobby. The space Tea ceremony is not only to take a cup of tea. It is kind of comprehensive art which has made great influence not only to the Japanese art sense but to the Japanese food or architecture. At first, I bought this Tsubaki House as my second house since I couldn’t suppress my interest in Kyoto Townhouse anymore. After some time, I thought it might be a good idea to offer this house to travelers as we are in Tokyo or England for most part of the year. This house is about 90years old, it looked severely damaged at first but I reformed the house one by one consulting with the architect. Without the skill of carpenters which can build traditional townhouses, the renovation would not be realized. There are various styles of teacups in tea ceremony. When the renovation was completely finished, I found Tsubaki House style is similar to my favorite teacup style. And it made me smile! I really hope this house will be loved my many guests.
