Abrahams Bayr Cottage
Description
Beautiful, completely renovated dream house in 83135 Schechen am Inn, district of Rosenheim in Upper Bavaria. The idyllic Erlensee lake is in the immediate vicinity. To the bus 1 minute, train nearby, a few minutes to Rosenheim and 45 minutes to Munich. The house has three bedrooms, a balcony and a very spacious bathroom, two WCs. There is also a fully equipped open-plan kitchen, leading into the bright living/dining area, with conservatory and adjoining terrace overlooking the garden. The space In 2022/23, we acquired this special little house from our former neighbours Michael and Kreszentia Bayr, which we therefore call "Abrahams Bayr Cottage", with a lot of love and care. We partially redesigned the interior, added the glass bay window and the high terrace. This saved the house from demolition. Built in 1954 by the Bayr family, it had been vacant for the last 20 years. In the 1990s, Franz Abraham's mother, Mrs Rosi Abraham (1937–2025), who had lived all her life in the neighbouring house at Tannenweg 4 (built by her parents in 1934), purchased the property at Tannenweg 6 with the intention of eventually bequeathing it to her son Franz. We have renovated or fundamentally restored almost everything, placing particular emphasis on authentic historical building materials. For example, the more than 100-year-old spruce floorboards on the ground floor come from a school building in Bernried on Lake Starnberg, and the famous Solnhofen tiles in the corridor come from a farmhouse in the Allgäu region. Despite the extensive renovations, we have preserved the substance and unique character of the house – from the faithfully restored balcony (blasted with dry ice and then oiled) to the original doors and door fittings and the wonderful, insulating yet airy box windows to the shutters and roof truss ornaments. Since July 2023, the beautiful little house has once again been a welcoming home, waiting to be filled with new stories and memories.
