Nestled into the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County, Windsor is a small town with deep roots in farming and, more recently, winemaking. You'll enjoy the area's family-owned wineries and the newly constructed Old Downtown, a development that brings to life Windsor's past, including the old general store and meat market. Lively restaurants abound, and the Town Green also hosts a Sunday Farmers' Market from May through November and concerts on summer nights. Adjacent to WorldMark Windsor is the challenging Windsor Golf Course, host to six PGA Nike events. Windsor is also home to more than 1,000 acres of regional parkland and is the liftoff point of the annual Sonoma County Hot Air Balloon Classic. Popular Attractions Sonoma Coastline Along more than thirty miles of rugged and scenic coastline of the Sonoma coast are numerous parks where visitors can picnic, camp, hike and observe a variety of sea and bird life, as well as enjoy nature and springtime wildflowers. The coast features stretches of wide, sandy beaches and sections of rocky cliffs. From the Russian museum of Fort Ross to the historical sites of Bodega Bay, this journey can be enjoyed by all. Approx. 30 miles from the resort. Safari West Wildlife Preserve & Resort Guided, open-air jeep tours of this 400-acre wildlife sanctuary are offered daily (by reservation only). Located in Santa Rosa, the sanctuary is home to more than 400 mammals and birds. Tour times: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4 p.m. daily (spring through fall); 10 a.m.-2 p.m. daily (winter). 11 mi. Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve Nestled in the heart of the Russian River Valley, this 240 acre redwood grove offers both peaceful and serene walking and hiking trails throughout the reserve. The Parson Jones tree is the tallest at 310 feet and the Colonel Armstrong tree is the oldest at 1400 years old. Historical information is available at the visitor center with ample picnicking available amongst these majestic giants. Horseback riding is available through the Armstrong Woods Pack Station. Approx. 18 miles from the resort.
