Description

Come visit charming historic Old Town Alexandria! Waiting for you here at "Harley House" is a fully renovated, circa 1847, private English basement apartment with your own off street front door entrance (must use stairs). We use Airbnb often throughout our worldwide travels so we understand what makes a comfortable stay. The space Lovely apartment in historic Old Town, Alexandria. This 1847 built, recently fully renovated English Basement apartment with your own off street front door entrance, has one large bedroom with wall mounted TV, super comfortable King size bed (I can't tell you how often I get requests from guests wanting to buy one just like it), living room with large TV for relaxing, private bathroom with glass door, walk in shower, and kitchenette. Kitchenette comes with sink, Keurig coffee machine, french press, toaster and mini refrigerator/freezer and microwave (enjoy those leftovers from all the fabulous restaurants nearby). There is NOT a cooktop and oven. Please note: Please do not plan to bring and use hot plates, induction cooktops, blenders, Instant Pots, Crockpots or Air Fryers. You'll also have your own washer and dryer. No smokers please! If you are a smoker, this is not the good space for you to choose. I have severe sensitivity to smoke. There is absolutely no smoking inside my apartment and there is not a comfortable place to sit and smoke immediately outside either. Not 420 friendly. Very sensitive smoke detectors. Guest access You'll have complete privacy and your own street front door entrance (must use stairs). I will be available to answer questions and assist to make your visit as pleasant as possible if you need, but also can leave you to enjoy your stay in total solitude. PARKING - Please let me know if you'll have a car so I can get you a complimentary permit (no charge compared to hotels charging per night) for parking on my block (and surrounding Zone 3). Parking is easy, convenient and usually plentiful. Other things to note NO CLEANING FEES: The apartment will still be as immaculately clean as reviews often mention. In an effort to respond to global Airbnb guests' feedback, I am offering a no cleaning fee policy. Don't worry though - you'll still find a meticulously clean space which is the #1 most mentioned compliment in my reviews. NO SMOKING: No smokers please! If you are a smoker, this is not the good space for you to choose. I have severe sensitivity to smoke. There is absolutely no smoking inside my apartment and there is not a comfortable to sit and smoke immediately outside either. SURROUNDING AREA: Walking distance to great restaurants, King Street, two metro stops (Braddock Road and King Street), Trader Joe's, Harris Teeter, and Water Taxis into National Harbor, Washington Harbor and Georgetown. Quick train or Uber to DCA and Washington DC. ACCESSIBILITY: There are six steps down to your front door entrance. Inside there are two steps down into the bedroom. NOTES ON OUR SHARED ROWHOUSE: We live in the floors above, please note that similar to a hotel/apartment building, you may hear us moving around. There are just two adults and no children here and we make every effort to be considerate housemates. We have a mini dachshund that lives with us upstairs. She is never in the space that you will occupy. THERMOSTAT: Also, please note that temperature control is on the floor above you. We recognize that "comfortable" is subjective. We do our best to seek just the right temperature. In the cooler months we have electric heaters for those who want it warmer. CANCELLATION POLICY/TRAVEL INSURANCE: Even the best laid plans can change, and that includes trips. Given the unpredictability of travel interruptions, such as, weather, family emergencies, sudden illness, natural disaster, etc., we highly recommend our guests purchase travel insurance or review any credit card benefits to protect their vacation investment. Most policies require that purchase be made within 48 hours of booking.  We are unable to make exceptions to our cancellation policy for events outside our control that do not impact the suitability of our dwelling, but happy to provide any documentation to support insurance claims.   PARKING: Per current city laws, we are able to provide Zone 3, guest parking pass for street parking. Please note that we are not able to guarantee parking in the event that municipal rules change, but to date we have no reason to believe they will. Please provide car info upon booking (license plate state and #). Parking longer than 7 days requires additional info for a pass from city hall. With a pass, guests are exempt from hourly parking limits. Without a pass, parking is subject to a 2 hour limit weekdays between 8am-5pm. Parking is first come, first serve but to date our guests have found parking easy and plentiful on our block. If you have more than one car we can recommend affordable lots within walking distance. For guests with electric vehicles, we are down the block from a charging station with multiple units.
