Description

Suspended between 4 giant Douglas Fir trees our offgrid, rustic treehouse offers a truly unique gorge experience. Situated on 70 acres of land ready to be explored the tree house features exceptional views of Mt.Hood, the Columbia river, and Portland city lights. Super close to town, yet worlds apart this retreat is the perfect getaway to recharge and explore the gorge from. The space Our treehouse has just been completed in the summer of 2023 and is new to Airbnb. We built the treehouse to be an awesome get-away close to town where folks can enjoy nature and our awesome views on Wild Iris Ridge. We have direct line of sight views to Mt. Hood, the Vista house, Stiegerwald Wild life refuge, the gorge, the Columbia river, and Portland. We look forward to sharing this beautiful location with you! The treehouse is finished with beetle killed pine interior and features cedar decks front and rear. The main space has a dining table, sitting area (with futon), half bath and small bar area. Being offgrid, the treehouse utilizes solar power and batteries to have lights and normal 120V plug ins. We do have a hot water kettle for tea or coffee in the morning as well...however, we do appreciate energy conservation so please turn things off when not in use :-). Unfortunately WIFI doesn't make it out to the treehouse, but there is excellent cell coverage. Guest access During your stay the treehouse will be all yours! You are also welcome to explore our 70 acre property with a hike down to the creek or mingle with the deer that are always around. We also have a large timber framed picnic shelter that you are more than welcome to hang out in and use the BBQ in. We occasionally host BBQ's out there with friends and family and you are welcome to join in if we are around...its a huge space (30x50) and offers great views of the river and mountain. Finally, there is an epic swing suspended from two trees outside the treehouse. You are welcome to swing at your own risk :-) Other things to note The queen bed and two single beds are in two separate lofts that are accessed by ladder. Due to this we do not allow children under 5 in the loft areas and all children under 12 should be supervised when in the lofts. There are full railings, but we want people to be aware that you must climb a ladder to get to the bed. We do have a futon bed on the main floor that you are welcome to use if this is an issue...but we do limit the total number of guests to 4. There is running potable water in the bathroom and outside on the deck for the shower...the shower even has hot water! We use a composting toilet in the bathroom (we were skeptical too until we tried it...and now we love it!). If you haven't tried one of these have no fear...the only major difference is the toilet uses zero water AND everyone sits to pee...finally...equality in the bathroom! This is due to the fact the the toilet utilizes a urine separator. Please be respectful of this policy...if you aren't it'll make your stay MUCH less enjoyable.
