Description
This is our mother's home, a charming early 18th Century cottage, simply and tastefully furnished. Its location in a quiet country lane, with a glorious view, and seconds from the amazing Earsham Street and beautiful Bungay is very special. If you don't mind the traditional furnishings and the short bathtub, you'll feel like you are stepping back in time, leave the modern world behind, and have a lovely stay. The space Improvements We have carried out a number of improvements since first hosting in October 2023. The kitchen/dining now has a quarry tiled floor. The bathroom will soon be tiled and fitted with a wall mounted shower. We are keeping our reduced price the same until the bathroom is refurbished early next year. The Space The cottage has a private garden and a car port accessed directly from the lane where parking is free. The private garden backs onto an ancient wall made of traditional flint stones. It leads into the conservatory, past a small kitchen to a dining space and the living room. The bright conservatory is a delightful space, where you can enjoy the sun and and sit with the view of the small courtyard garden. In the summer evenings you can watch the bats flitting over. The upper floor bedrooms have views over the historical Scott House towards the beautiful Waveney Valley countryside in the distance. There are no corridors in the cottage. Rooms simply open one onto the other, making the space feel unusually accessible and pleasant. Guest access Guests can access the entire cottage. Other things to note The large bedroom has a standard double bed and a narrow (75 cm wide) divan bed. The small bedroom has a standard single bed. The sit bath is short! (120 cm long) with a handheld shower attachment. Infants and small children are welcome. All the windows have key-operated locks. There is no child gate on the stairs, no travel cot and no socket covers. The TV has freeview, an HTML socket and an integrated DVD player with a small but growing eclectic DVD collection. There is also a growing collection of board games. There is fast fibre optic wifi if you need to check in online. The kitchen is small but very well equipped with coffee percolators, weighing scales and blenders. ABOUT BUNGAY Bungay is accessible by train to Norwich, Diss, Halesworth and Beccles, all of which have regular bus connections. Bus services also run from Bungay to the surrounding resorts including Southwold, Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth. Bungay offers a variety of walks and river activities.
