The space “Dimitra’s House” is a charming accommodation located in the traditional village of Ano Korakiana, in northern Corfu. This village is geographically bounded to the north by Mount Korakio, part of the Pantokrator mountain range. It lies about 17 kilometers from Corfu Town and is built amphitheatrically, offering panoramic views of the lush mountain, the Ionian Sea, and the olive-covered plain that stretches before it. To the east, it borders the village of Agios Markos and to the west, Skripero. Historical records mention its settlements as far back as the 15th century. This fully renovated house is situated in the Mourgadas settlement of Ano Korakiana. It is just 100 meters away from the free parking area, a two-minute and five-second walk at a leisurely pace. Built in the mid-18th century, it is fully in harmony with the vernacular architecture of Corfu’s countryside, where houses were built close together, often separated only by the bell tower of a church, as in the case of this house. Characteristic Corfiot furniture from the early 20th century, influenced by the island’s Venetian heritage, along with beautiful paintings, adorn both living rooms and revive the island’s cultural past, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This charm is complemented by modern comforts throughout. The English-style kitchen is fully equipped to inspire creative cooking, and a nearby WC adds convenience. Between the ground and first floors, a study area combined with a sofa bed offers a perfect corner for creative relaxation and peace of mind. The small upper-floor terrace invites you to admire the gentle, green Corfiot landscape and the calm Ionian Sea while enjoying your coffee or drink. But the unique experience at “Dimitra’s House” doesn’t stop there. It offers guests the opportunity to explore one of Corfu’s most traditional villages—largely untouched by mass tourism. The village’s architecture reflects the historical periods the island has undergone (Venetian, French, British), and among its features are 28 churches, most of them privately founded. Strolling through the village, stopping by small cafés and bakeries, admiring large mansions that have retained their traditional form, and interacting easily with locals—as well as the growing number of other visitors—creates a pleasant atmosphere, enriched by events organized by the village’s Philharmonic Society “Spyros Samaras” (established in 1958) and the Cultural Association, especially during August. From Ano Korakiana, guests have easy access to well-known beaches like Dassia, Ipsos, Barbati, and Nissaki on one side, and Paleokastritsa, Rovinia, Agios Georgios, Glyfada, and Ermones on the other. Similarly beautiful beaches can be found in the southern part of the island. The villages of the Pantokrator range not only offer natural beauty but also host traditional tavernas where one can savor authentic Corfiot cuisine.
