The Guest House

Des Hôtes is a private sanctuary for your next trip to Mount Dora. It is a one-bedroom guest house on our historic estate. We are located within walking distance from beautiful Lake Gertrude and 1.1 miles away from the center of town. A short walk, or leisurely bike ride, it is convenient to Mount Dora's abundant dining, shopping, and festivals. Please allow two day notice to book. The space 475 sq. ft. of old Florida charm. The open floor plan allows you to access all areas, spread out, and create your own bit of private oasis. Take a leisurely stroll across the Palm Island Boardwalk, visit the famous Mount Dora Lighthouse, or enjoy kayaking at the nearby Lake Gertrude. Feel free to sleep in on the Sleep-Number bed, or wake early and enjoy your Keurig coffee on our screened patio. It is also a lovely spot to end the day with wine or whisky, as it does not allow for the famous Florida bug-of-choice, the mosquito, to nibble. The renovated space offers a queen bed, dining for two, and a kitchenette complete with refrigerator, stove, oven, sink, microwave, pots, pans, dishes & utensils. The bath offers walk-in shower, toilet & shelving storage for your personal items. It is a spacious en-suite that offers most everything you need! *If you are missing anything, please let us know. We are happy to accommodate where we can.* **We can accommodate any handicap bathroom needs with shower-assistance and commode-assistance chairs. Please ask.** Guest access During your stay, you'll have private access to the entire guest house. Our guest house has its own private driveway. We have a fully functioning washer and dryer in our main home, and are happy to allow its use. The screened patio is shared with the main house via a walkway from both locations. Other things to note With so many things to do and see, it is a straight shot to all of the downtown eateries, boutiques, and parks. Guests may utilize the pair of bikes we have for a new and different mode of transportation to and from downtown. Don't forget, there is also Renningers Antique shopping 2 miles away. Plan for the many festivals Mt. Dora has, including the renowned Art festival (Feb 3 and 4, 2024) , and Craft festival (Oct 28 and 29, 2023). Please note that we live on an Old U.S. Highway, leading into town; which means cars are driving past the property. While there are hedges to block the majority of the road noise, we cannot provide complete silence. This is less at night as the course of the day winds down, but it is not without some vehicles traversing at night.
