16th-century manor, 9 min to La Franca beach

Welcome to La Casa del Sauce, a 16th-century manor below the Sierra del Cuera, between the mountains and the sea. You’ll be 9 minutes from La Franca beach, 16 from San Vicente and 19 from Llanes. The house keeps its classic character, adapted to modern living with original touches: fireplaces, a garden and a hanging boat looking out to the Cuera. Gaudí’s El Capricho in Comillas, the Paleolithic Pindal cave nearby, and the Picos for a day trip. Ask away: our recommendations come with the house. The space As you walk in, a 100 m² living room with a fireplace and an open kitchen welcomes you: the heart of the house, made for long meals and evenings by the fire. Above it, an attic room with two single beds, a family-sized bed and an en-suite shower room, the kids’ favourite hideout. The second living room, with its own fireplace, two sofas and natural light from a skylight, leads to two double bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. Outside, a furnished porch with two sofas faces the Sierra del Cuera, the range just before the Picos de Europa, and a private, enclosed garden, well away from any traffic, gives children a safe place to roam. All in all: three independent bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, plus three sofa beds across the two living rooms for 6 more guests. The house is designed so up to three families can share it without getting in each other’s way: a bedroom and a bathroom for each, and two living rooms so you never have to share everything. Other things to note The Casa del Sauce has a rich history. Although the exact date is uncertain, the house dates back to the 1600s and was once owned by the descendants of Pedro Noriega, to whom Don Pelayo granted the village of Noriega, where the house is located. Additionally, it served as a hunting lodge for the Marquis of Santillana, among others. Our goal is to preserve its essence while adapting it to the comforts of modern living.
