Cosy mountain cabin nestled in Arthur’s Pass National Park and surrounded by native forest and birdlife. This is a peaceful place to retreat, perfect for romantic get aways, families and groups of up to 10 people. Access to bush walks, water fall views and mountain climbs right outside the front door. Secluded and private with plenty of off-street parkin, and the Arthurs Pass village centre a short 5-minute walk away. The space Kea Aura cabin was built by our family in the 1980's; it is an ideal place for those who are looking for rustic, cosy accommodation. The cabin has been well loved and cared for, it is full of character and because of it's age has some imperfections. Please read the information we provide carefully before booking. We look forward to having you stay! The main living space is open plan with a high pitch ceiling and a loft above the lounge, dining, kitchen area. The wood burner heats the whole cabin and the loft is a cosy place for sleeping with 6 single mattresses that can be moved around to suit. There are two bedrooms downstairs with a queen sized bed in each. Please note the main source of heating in the cabin is the wood burner; It is important that guests feel comfortable and confident using the wood burner if they wish to stay at our cabin. We provide bedding, linen and towels. Our duvets have wool inners and will be sure to keep you warm on chilly mountain nights. Please note guests will need to make up their own beds when they arrive. The kitchen is well stocked with all the kitchenware you might need. Utensils, cups, bowls, plates, wine glasses, sharp knives, pots and pans, an electric jug, a coffee plunger, a toaster, a fridge, a stove and oven. If you are planning to stay for just one night we recommend that you arrive with enough time to get yourself set up for the evening. Once the fire is lit it usually takes about an hour for the cabin to get warm and cosy. There is a portacot and highchair available for use also. The bathroom has a bath and shower, a hand basin and a toilet. There is a sunroom at the front of the house that catches the morning sun. The laundry has a washing machine and dryer which you are welcome to use. Outside there is a veranda and wooden deck area that is an enjoyable place to sit on sunny days. Guest access Whole house. We provide plenty of dry firewood and clear instructions on how to operate the wood burner. We are happy to answer any questions you may have. Guests will need to make up their own beds when they arrive and strip them when they leave. We provide pillows, duvets and blankets, fitted sheets, tops sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases. these are all stored in clearly marked tubs on shelves in each of the downstairs bedrooms and upstairs in the loft area. If you are planning to stay for just one night we recommend that you arrive with enough time to get yourself set up for the evening. It can take a little while to get the fire lit and the cabin cosy on cold nights. We ask that guests tidy up after themselves and take their rubbish and recycling away with them when they leave. Our cabin is located at the western end of the Arthur's Pass village. It is not hard to find but if you are planning to arrive after dark make sure you map out where you are going in advance and bring a flashlight as there are no street lamps.
