Relax and unwind in a private lakeside cottage surrounded by a natural setting. Vintage details with modern conveniences are combined in a large 335 sq foot open concept space. Curated furnishings and decor make the indoors as unique as the outdoors. Rural tranquility with easy convenient accessibilities. Enjoy the rocking chairs in the waterfront gazebo while watching for wildlife, boaters and barges. The space Rural tranquility with easy accessibility to the airport, shopping, the University of Tennessee, Tellico Village and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (approximately 1 hour away). Enjoy the rocking chairs in the waterfront gazebo while watching for wildlife, boaters and barges. While your cottage is on the same property with our home, they two are separated by a lawn. You’ll have your own walkway and parking for one vehicle. Guest access You are welcome to use the lakeside gazebo to sit in the rocking chairs and relax while watching the boats go by on the Tennessee River. The gazebo is shown in the photos. While our shoreline is lined with rip rap which makes it un-suitable for swimming, there’s a public beach less than 10 minutes away. More info in GuideBook. Please note: for insurance liability reasons, the boat dock is not available for guest use. Fishing (catch and release) from the shore is welcomed. Other things to note Fort Loudoun Dam was completed in 1943 creating the Fort Loudoun reservoir, the eastern-most dam on the Tennessee River. Our home was completed in 1945. It’s believed to be one of the first homes built on the shores of the newly formed lake. We are the third owners. The original owners, Dr. and Dr. Alexander, were the area’s family practitioners. The name Northwind Cove was appropriately coined in the 1970s by the second owners. The Martins must’ve noticed that this point in the river uniquely receives breezes from the north. We bought the place in 2016 and after a few changes and an addition, made it our full-time home in 2019. As guests at our property, you’ll be staying in a separate cottage that was added in the 1950s. This cottage was home to the caretaker for the Alexander’s daughter. It has been tastefully updated but still contains unique vintage decor. We’re happy to now be sharing our place with guests through AirBnB.
