Rustic Existence, our off grid Glamping

Welcome to Rustic Existence! Enjoy a tranquil getaway the simple way. Break away from the fast paced world and emerge yourself into nature, living with wildlife and a clear sky for wonderful star gazing nights. Enjoy off grid living with solar lights, an outdoor shower and outdoor cooking all while staying in our converted pole barn. All you need is your clothes, food, cooler, towels and sleeping bag! The space Why sleep on the ground in a tent, when you can bunkie! Keep cozy with a mattress! Each bunk is 40"x80", adult sized! The propane fireplace will keep you warm and cozy on those cool nights. The windows provide a wonderful breeze, plus a solar powered ceiling fan will help cool you during the night. All lights are solar or battery powered. There is a kettle and butane powered burner to prepare coffee and tea to start your day while lounging in the chairs on the deck. The BBQ and outdoor cooking supplies allows you to cook meals, if you like. The outhouse has running water and the outdoor shower is warm. You may want your waterproof flips flops though, as the floor is rough concrete and gravel. Star gazing is wonderful at night, no city lights here! We have provided wood for your campfire, but you may want some waterproof footwear as the grass can get very wet from dew. There is no cell service inside the building, as it is steel. You can lounge on the deck to make your calls, however cell reception is poor in our area. (1-2 bars is the norm). Only cellphones can be charged on the solar panel. There is no wifi, it is all about camp fires, smores, stargazing and boards games! Sometimes we are not allowed campfires during the season, we will let you know if this happens. Guest access You will meet us at the main house to pick up the key but then you have the bunkie and the outhouse to yourself. There is a parking spot, just for Bunkie Guests and there is a wheelbarrow to haul your stuff down the hill. You may see my husband down at his gym, which is next to the bunkie. We have 18 acres that you are welcome to wonder, plus Saugeen Conservation is across the road. Other things to note Our property is very hilly and would be considered intermediate for hiking. Unfortunately, it is not wheel chair accessible. Across the road is Saugeen Conservation, 500 acres of trails and fishing. We are a half hour drive from the lake in Kincardine, 40 minutes from Port Elgin and Southampton, 1 1/2 hours from the Grotto, and 1 1/2 from Collingwood. There are all kinds of hiking trails and waterfalls within an hour drive.
