Description

Riverstown House, a charming period residence located in a picturesque setting on the banks of the river Brosna. Straddling the border between counties Tipperary and Offaly and only c.1km from the historic heritage town of Birr. The residence retains a host of original Georgian features. It was constructed around 1770 as a presbytery. The village of Riverstown is located within walking of Birr, a designated Irish Heritage Town and home to the reknowned Birr Castle. The space Accomadation: A self-contained apartment situated on the second floor which includes a living room, kitchen, large bedroom sleeping two, shower room and separate wc. For larger groups we have two further bedrooms which can sleep four & a large guest wc situated on the third floor. The use of the kitchen, living room and shower room on the second floor is a shared space for large group bookings requiring the additional two bedrooms on the third floor. Outside: Corporate Events and Parties Upon request there is also the added feature of a large 185 sq m (1991 sq ft) fully renovated barn with feature exposed ceiling beams, gas heaters on the walls, lighting and a large handmade bar area with glass washers and room for kegs, perfect for hosting parties and social gatherings. The barn is completed with a separate mezzanine area ideal for musicians performing accessed via a staircase. There are four separate ladies and gents toilets. Other outside features include rear garden, walled garden and patio. Private parking to the rear of the property. Other things to note The village of Riverstown is located within walking distance of Birr. Birr itself can trace it's origins back to the 6th century where St Brendan founded a monastery here. It also prides itself on it's wealth of Georgian Architecture and also boasts the Seffin Stone which identifies its location as the centre of Ireland. There are plenty of local shops and restraunts catering for every need. Birr Castle Birr Castle Demesne in Ireland are both rich in amazing feats of science and engineering, as well as rare trees and flowers, wonderful wildlife, walks along peaceful rivers and the lake. Having fallen into disrepair during the eighties and nineties, Birr Stage Guild set about restoring and refurbishing this Victorian theatre building to its original glory with seating capacity for 220 with both public funds and local fundraising. Birr Equestrian Centre Birr Equestrian Centre is A.I.R.E and Fáilte Ireland approved, and all instructors are certified by the British Horse Society. Located in the Midlands we offer riding lessons; cross country treks and tuition; hourly, half day and full day trekking in the Slieve Bloom Mountains; trekking holidays in conjunction with local accommodation providers and also seasonal pony camps.
