Oromet Cottage

Oromet Cottage is a delightful cottage perched on a hillside in Masaai land enjoying spectacular views over the Great Rift Valley. This accessible, self-catering, cottage is one hour drive from Nairobi suitable for one or two couples looking for a quick and relaxing getaway. The space A clever mix of rustic and contemporary materials, Oromet is a standout architectural gem that makes full use of the endless views from this unique location in Kajiado. An elevated boardwalk leads you to the entrance porch and lobby and to views of the wonderful lounge below. The upper bedroom at this level is spacious and enjoys breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. A spiral staircase leads you downstairs, to the open plan kitchen, dining, and lounge areas. The second bedroom is also located at this level and opens out to our spacious two level deck as does the lounge. The deck and lounge are your perfect chill spot for BBQs. Here you can enjoy your favorite beverage from our suspended hammock where you can laze in the sun or wait for the sunset, alternatively you can lounge at the lower deck as you keep warm at the fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped with any appliance you may need. The cottage is self-catering therefore you would need to purchase and bring your own food and drink. However, for a small fee, a chef will be available should you need one. You can do your shopping at Nairobi or in Kiserian town 16km away where there is a Quickmart supermarket. Kisames town is nearer to the cottages but offers more basic supplies. However, the goat meat available there is good. Our cottages are fully staffed so no need to worry about housekeeping. Should you want to explore the neighborhood, Olepolos County Club is next door. The Ngong Hills are 6 km from the cottage should you wish to go hiking. You could also drive down to Olorgesailie Prehistoric Site (30km) or further to Lake Magadi (70km). Zebras and Dik-Dik can be seen from the cottage seasonally. Birdlife is plenty so be sure to carry your binoculars. Baboons and cheeky velvet monkeys are frequent so be sure to close the door and windows when leaving the cottage. You can also enjoy free access to our infinity swimming pools and outdoor Jacuzzi. Guest access Overnight guests at the cottage will enjoy free access to the shared swimming pool. Other things to note - We take a minimum of two nights over the weekend (Fri to Sun) - Kindly let us know if you would like to book a chef once you have booked the cottage. The chef cost is Ksh 2,000 per day, - Due to high areas with low railings, the area might be unsuitable to children under 10 years - Please bring your own charcoal if you would like to grill
