Description

Your gorgeous, totally separate guest wing in our stylish, eco, pavilion home on secluded acreage offers you a tranquil sanctuary... space to breathe & rejuvenate; with split system air cond, fabulous kitchenette, comfy queen bed, spacious ensuite & deck. Your health, wellness & enjoyment are prioritised. Enjoy wallabies grazing, starry night skies, peaceful country vibes & the gorgeous Little Millstream Falls nearby. You're right on the doorstep of all the Tablelands' wonderful attractions. The space If you are seeking tranquillity, a comfortable and nurturing smoke-free and drug-free space, beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife, read on! We offer fantastic value for this fully self-contained accommodation, with very generous weekly and monthly discounts popular with both workers and tourists. Your own completely separate and private guest wing in this impressive architecturally-designed pavilion home has a northerly aspect and a full wall of glass offers a light-filled space, indoor/outdoor living with your private deck and a sense of connection to nature. The roller blinds are optional! It's a special treat to lie in bed and enjoy the stars, full moon or passing storms. 🤩 There is undercover parking and unlimited, high-speed NBN wi-fi for your convenience. Your guest wing is fully gauze-screened, though insects are few. Spot birds and wallabies, enjoy the gorgeous aspect and the spacious deck, complete with table, chairs, comfy outdoor lounge and BBQ. (Our weather is better than many places on the Tablelands, which has many micro-climates.) One queen bed, two occasional chairs, TV, desk and office chair are in your very spacious main room, with a door through to your kitchenette and bathroom. There's a 42" smart TV with free-to-air, Google Chromecast, a DVD player and good selection of DVDs. Abundant light also fills your ensuite, with a spacious shower, and there is also an outdoor, undercover, 12-jet spa bath in a shared area, which by arrangement you can reserve for your private use. (It's an optional extra for $10, or complementary for guests who stay a week or more. 🤩) Your new, very well-equipped kitchenette is complete with hotplates, oven, microwave oven and 200 litre fridge with a separate, spacious freezer. In shared spaces, there is also a second deck with a larger table and chairs setting and sun lounges that's occasionally available, and another undercover outdoor seating area and mini BBQ in the breezeway. The laundry/washing machine is also shared (complementary). We have an assortment of free-to-use wellbeing bonuses available for you: ~ far-infrared sauna blanket ~ Zen Chi machine ~ quality yoga mats ~ massage gun ~ massage table ~ Nikken Wellness magnetic overlay ~ assortment of oracle cards ~ relaxation music (Bluetooth speaker provided) ~ life-affirming books & DVDs "Look at the stars, see how they shine for you." ... enjoy the spectacular night sky, all the better while relaxing around the outdoor fire pit (a lovely treat when the weather behaves itself). Spoilt for choice! For your comfort we have quality soft overlays on the Ecosa queen mattress. If you prefer firm, we can prepare your bed without the overlays or alter it any time during your stay. By arrangement (at additional cost), sound healing/sound meditation and life coaching may be available. (Please ask for details.) ***Please note: If you're travelling with others and need two rooms, follow the 'other listings' link on our profile to check availability. (If that's booked already, ask about another option we may have.) We have many other plans that we look forward to developing over time, so our already-special sanctuary can only get better! Most places on the Tablelands can be travelled to within an hour. (Atherton 55 minutes, Yungaburra 65 minutes, Malanda 45 minutes, Millaa Millaa 30 minutes, Herberton 40 minutes, Innot Hot Springs 30 minutes.) We're 15 minutes from Millstream Falls, less than 10 minutes from Little Millstream Falls and just 10 minutes from Ravenshoe - a well-serviced town that includes two cafes, a bakery and two pubs. We look forward to sharing our slice of paradise with you! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Jirrbal people, and pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and future. We also appreciate and pay our respects to anyone who loves and honours the land, our mother earth. Guest access It's sealed roads all the way to our level driveway, so it's total ease for any type of vehicle. Enter the property via the battle axe driveway (very private, out of sight from the quiet country road, look for the orange feather flags). Drive along past the mango trees lining the driveway to the yellow feather flags near the front of the house. Pull up at the main entry (the second curve to the left) and beep your horn to alert us of your arrival. With zero stairs for ease with your luggage, the guest wing is first on the right as you enter the covered breezeway. Once you've unloaded your vehicle, the carport is nearby. The main very spacious room in your guest wing caters for your sleeping, lounging, entertainment and office, and leads out to your private deck. Your kitchenette is through the door into a separate room, as is your spacious, light-filled bathroom. In your fabulous new kitchen there are plenty of appliances for your convenience, including a fridge, multi-function oven, microwave oven, hotplates, toaster, kettle, bullet blender, filtered water & coffee plunger. Organic coffee, assorted teas & UHT milk are provided (if you prefer plant-based milk let us know). The washing machine is available to you, with complementary, eco/safe laundry powder. Other things to note ~ When you request to book a stay with us, we will first ask you to confirm that you understand our sanctuary (both indoors and outdoors) is a smoke-free, drug-free and intoxication-free zone and that you agree to abide by this. (Drinking in moderation is okay, wine glasses and flutes provided). ~ Any property has ongoing work and maintenance. We also have projects as we evolve the property and the facilities. Wherever possible we avoid doing anything noisy while you are here. If it can't be avoided, we minimise wherever possible. If you have any concern at any time, please just let us know. (With the air conditioning on you would not likely hear anything.) ~ We are on rainwater most of the time, which is much better quality and healthier water than the mains supply. The trade-off is that the water pressure in the shower is low (due mainly to the mixer tap.) If that doesn't suit you, please either: - check if we are currently on rainwater or mains water, or - check if our other listing is available (the pressure is quite good with the separate taps), or - for short stays we can swap over to mains water at your request ~ While the higher blinds are block-out, the lower blinds are solar shades so they block the sun while still making it possible to enjoy the scenery (the sun only shines in during winter) . ~ Nature provides us with lots of lovely, quiet nights ... and at other times it also provides us with the sound of storms, curlews, wild Guinea fowl and pond life! ~ Our other AirBnB listing/guest wing is across the breezeway from your guest wing. While you are in separate buildings under the one large roof, sometimes you'll hear other guests, though mostly in an unobtrusive way. We promote and encourage peace and quiet. So far it has not been necessary to ask guests to quieten down, though we would do so if need be. :-) ~ We provide organic and natural personal care and cleaning products for practical, health and ecological reasons. We prefer that you refrain from using any of your own products that may be unsuitable for septic systems. ~ In the very unlikely event that there is an issue with the electrical power, it may be necessary and unavoidable to enter your guest wing. (The electrical switchboard for the whole house is in the guest wing. This was done when the house was built so is beyond our control. $10,000 to move it, not in our budget!) Of course we would check with you first if you are here. If you are out, we will try to call you. Otherwise we will need to quickly (and respectfully) pop in and sort it out. Booking a stay with us is confirming this is okay with you. ~ During the wet season especially, thunderstorms can be severe. It’s not uncommon for the mains power to blackout. There are battery lights provided and we have some portable solar and battery back up power for fridges/lights. (Eventually we'll be fully self-sufficient for power, with mains as a back up.) ~ On our road (Eucalyptus Rd) there are often many, many wallabies, and sometimes Guinea fowl. Please drive slowly and mindfully. ~ We live in the tropics, and on very rare occasions when it rains very heavily, the creek between Ravenshoe and our neighbourhood (Millstream south) can rise rapidly, however, it goes down again quickly. Being flexible with your plans anywhere in the tropics is the best approach. If you have to be somewhere critically important (e.g. the airport), it is best to keep watch on the weather forecast and the radar map, and if need be, plan extra time accordingly. ~ Your main room has split system air conditioning, a ceiling fan, an oscillating fan and the double-sliding doors take full advantage of any breeze. The elevation of the Tablelands makes the climate generally a lot cooler than down on the coast. For a short time of the year, it is possible for the days to be very hot. For a short time in winter, the nights can be quite cold. We have plenty of warm, cosy blankets. (For most of the year it's quite pleasant.) ~ Telstra network has the best signal. To a lesser degree, Optus and Vodafone network phone signals also work here. ~ Note: The small local supermarkets closer to us are limited and expensive. If you're staying for a while and need to do a big food shop, Atherton, Innisfail and Cairns are better options. Fresh fruit and vegetables are also available from most of the weekend markets around the Tablelands. We invite you to come and immerse yourself in our sanctuary and all that the Tablelands has to offer!
