The space Built in 1907, the Historic Barnard Building offers a glimpse into Wallace’s past with its original hotel-style layout and turn-of-the-century character. Guest rooms are located along a shared hallway on the second floor, much like a traditional historic hotel. As part of the building’s original 1907 design, the guest floor is reached by a large flight of stairs. There is no elevator or alternate route to the second floor, so guests should be comfortable using stairs during their stay. It’s one of the many features that reflects the Barnard’s history and preserved character. Once upstairs, guests have their own private room and can enjoy a unique stay in a building that has been part of Wallace for more than a century. Other things to note Up a long flight of stairs so be prepared. Stairs are well lit and decorated with historic photos from the Barnard Stockbridge collection. Fire escape down the hallway.
