Observatory Glamping Cabin in Northumberland
Observatory Glamping Cabin in Northumberland
Description
Idyllic glamping retreat for walkers, cyclists, writers and artists. Relax and take in the scenery from your deck overlooking the reservoir and the stunning views of the Northumberland landscape. Look out for wildfowl, roe deer and red squirrels and on a clear night, wonder at the dark skies from the North Pennines Observatory. A warm, peaceful, romantic space, with comfortable lower double bed and single upper bunk. Private camp kitchen and bathroom with shower just down steps from your deck. The space The Observatory Cabin occupies the space that was designed and built in 2019 as a warm-room adjacent to the North Pennines Observatory. It sits on the top corner of the grounds of the Old School House which also offers accommodation, for larger groups. The cabin is highly insulated and provides a unique experience for those looking for somewhere different to stay. The space is approx 2.5 x 4 metres and leads straight onto the observatory deck where you can eat, drink, relax and admire the scenery. Underneath the cabin you will find a camp style kitchen with all basic equipment provided. Just a few metres away is your private bathroom with shower. If you are interested in exploring the night sky, we have a range of astronomical equipment and resources that we can show you how to use free of charge. The main observatory can also be booked with our technician, weather permitting at an additional cost. Guest access You will have private, sole use of the cabin, deck, bathroom and kitchen. You will be able to walk around the reservoir which may be accessed by others. The hosts live in the neighbouring Old School House and have additional guest accommodation at the far end of the building so you may occasionally see other people come and go onto the property. There is a ramp onto the observatory deck and cabin and a separate ramped access to the bathroom and kitchen below. Wheelchair access is therefore available but not especially convenient.
