This curated A-frame chalet, near the shores of Donner Lake and just minutes from the town of Truckee, has an exquisite chef’s kitchen, two cozy adjoined upstairs bedrooms, and indoor/outdoor living spaces specifically designed to create the perfect mountain getaway. A lovingly restored 1964 cabin on the quiet south side of Donner Lake, this artfully designed home is a comfortable oasis to cook, relax, and snuggle up with a book by the fire. The space The main floor has an inviting living area, complete with a wood-burning stove, a record player, and a fishpond. The kitchen has been completely redone and is a paradise for those who love to cook. (Think: espresso machine, celery juicer, stocked spices, and high-quality knives.) On the main floor you’ll also find a washer-dryer unit and the home’s only bathroom, outfitted with a rain shower and plush towels. A metal spiral staircase leads you upstairs to the loft, where one queen bed and one king bed are separated by sail cloth room dividers. (There is privacy, but sound carries between the two rooms.) Both bedrooms have their own small workspaces. Keep in mind this is an A-frame and the upstairs is cozy! The backdoor opens up to the forest and a tumbling creek. An outdoor patio and hammock make for a great place to hang out come the warmer months. Short term rental permit #STR23-7716 Guest access There are two parking spots available for guest use. Access to the house requires a short walk and a set of stairs. The house—located on a quiet cul-de-sac—is a 10-minute stroll to Donner Lake’s West End Beach Park and a 10-minute drive to historic downtown Truckee. In the summertime, you’ll find hiking and biking trails, rock climbing on Donner Pass, and paddling on Donner Lake just outside your door. In the winter, downhill skiing at Sugarbowl, Northstar, or Palisades Tahoe are a short drive away, as well as easy access to Nordic and backcountry skiing off Donner Pass. Lake Tahoe is a 25-minute drive away. Other things to note 7 night minimum reservation in the winter. No smoking and no pets, please. This is a renovated vintage cabin in the mountains, and therefore quirks and charms exist. A steep spiral staircase accesses the bedrooms and can be tricky for some to navigate. Fire danger is a real threat during the summer months and snowfall totals can be very deep here in the winter. Due to bears in the area, please do not leave food in cars or outside, and never leave trash unattended. Lock the house and your cars when gone and at night due to bears. Maximum capacity of overnight guests is four.
