The undulating hills and patchwork fields nearby offer some of the most exquisite landscapes in the country to be enjoyed from the house. The space Nest Lodge is a completely self contained, semi-detached property set within the beautiful grounds of the owner's estate. These grounds become an extension of your holiday home for alfresco dining under vast skies filled with birdsong. Inside, each space has been carefully curated with beautiful artworks, antiques and artefacts collected over many years which create a home full of character and style which impresses from the moment you step through the door. Go exploring on several local walks, mapped out by the owner, taking you through ancient woodland, along river paths or seeking out a country pub. Nip into the village of Pulborough or the county towns of Petworth and Arundel which host an array of historic pubs, shops and attractions, or take in a vineyard tour and tasting at the award-winning Nutbourne and Nyetimber Estates. Maybe, as many previous guests experienced; once you are here, you’ll not want to venture too far. The peace and luxury of your surroundings will allow you and your party to fully recharge, away from the stresses of modern life. You’ll pass through some of the most exquisite countryside as you drive through the South Downs National Park from either London or the South Coast. Winding roads flanked by lush hedgerows and mature trees guide you to where this house sits signposted up a private drive where there is parking for two cars on the forecourt. Nest Lodge feels completely independent and private within its own floodlit Mediterranean garden. Several seating areas and a firepit offer the perfect spaces from which to enjoy the Downland vista framed by mature, specimen trees and architectural planting. Fragrant lavender, wild flower meadows and olive trees form a glorious backdrop to the generous open plan living room and kitchen, where there is ample space for formal and informal dining around an oak-topped eating island, which can spill outside during the warmer seasons. For evenings in, there is a sumptuous sofa and a flat screen Smart TV with sound system and complementary WiFi for streaming movies. Or you may wish to simply unplug and curl up with a book, of which there are many to choose from. If you’re cooking for family or friends, the kitchen is well-equipped every appliance you could need to whip up a delicious meal to be paired with an English sparkling wine purchased from any one of the local vineyards. There is a good range of crockery, glassware, cutlery, cooking utensils and pans, plus a Nespresso machine. On the ground floor, there are two comfortable double bedrooms for two; one double and one twin, both dressed in quality Egyptian cotton white linens. Both have clothes and shoe storage, and each bed has a deep hybrid mattress with plump pillows and so whatever time you fall into bed, you can ensure a truly restful night’s sleep. These rooms share use of a beautifully appointed family shower room adorned with fluffy towels and the blissful scents of Ortigia Italian luxury soaps. The epitome of luxury, the principal bedroom suite spans the entire first floor with French doors opening to a romantic balcony where views over the South Downs are truly breathtaking and can be enjoyed from your pillow. The sunsets are equally beguiling for an evening nightcap and you can bathe below a canopy of trees in the ensuite bathroom where the deep bathtub has central taps for comfortable bathing for two at either end. Guest access Access to the property is via a smartlock system, giving convenience to arrive whenever suits you. Instructions will be sent 24 hours prior to your stay. Please note: This property is in a very quiet area and loud groups and young children are not appropriate at this location, only infants and children over 12. Please also note that the owner's very friendly and sweet Jack Russell dog may pay you a visit as he lives on the grounds, so for those with allergies or fears of dogs, this may not be the ideal stay for you.
