The king bed is comfy and the bathroom is stocked. The space is only for those looking for quiet. No partying/loud socializing. Located 20 min from downtown San Diego and 25 min from the nearest beach (Ocean Beach). The space SUNRISE PERCH - Enjoy an inspiring eastern view from the deck! Featuring comfort, style, and modern amenities all wrapped up in a quiet neighborhood where you can hear the birds chirp and the wind rustle the leaves. The guest house is its own private standalone home with its own private entrance and one parking spot. The floors are gorgeous acacia hardwoods throughout and tile (no carpet anywhere). ENTERTAINMENT: In the living room, you'll find a 43" TV ready for your Netflix, Prime, or any other subscription. Many of our guests have commented about the WiFi being lightning fast! There are also books, magazines, and games for your enjoyment. AMENITIES: This space has a kitchen, quartz counters, large sink, and all cooking/eating utensils that you'll need to make a great meal. The bathroom is stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, hand soap, and hair dryer. The ceilings throughout are vaulted, giving an airy feel, with ceiling fans. We built the space with basic Feng Shui principles in mind for this size space. We chose this spot on the property so that guests could enjoy the natural beauty of the setting, especially the sunrise over the mountains to the east from the deck. Window positioning inside the home was chosen to take advantage of the views and the cross-breeze that being on a hill affords. There is central heat and AC as well. ART: I enjoy all sorts of carpentry and I like making both decorative and functional items from wood. All of the decorative wood pieces are made by me. The desk in the bedroom is handmade by a local Mt. Helix artisan. Put your clothes in the antique Javanese hutch in the bedroom, which was built in the 1800s! Be sure to check out the carving details on this amazing piece of furniture! QUIRKS: Because the space features some handmade and vintage furniture and art, please expect there to be wear/scratches and signs of age and history. The floors are real hardwoods and they creak when you walk on them, just like most real hardwood floors. If you’re looking for a brand new hotel experience, you should check out one of the many available hotels in San Diego which offer that. This is a unique property with its own little quirks that we find to be special and give it a handmade feel. PARTIES OF 5: If you are a party of 5, please check with me before booking. This space will fit 5, if your party is 2 adults and 3 children. The fold-out sofa will not fit 2 adults, so this space cannot accommodate a party of 5 adults. Guest access You have full access to the guest house and its amenities. This includes the deck and side yard in front of the deck. Your parking spot is the one at the top of the driveway area, with the black iron fence. Other things to note The king bed fits two adults easily, and the fold down leather sofa (full size) will fit two small children or one adult. We also offer a twin sized air mattress, which is in the bedroom closet. ZERO TOLERANCE FOR PARTIERS/NOISY GUESTS: If you are looking for a party atmosphere, this is not it. Please check out downtown San Diego and the surrounding areas if that is your scene. Your stay will be immediately canceled if you or your guests are partying. This is a family friendly space! The sound of children is welcome and is not a problem for us. Our guests come here to Mt. Helix for relaxation and serenity. Due to the hill location, noise carries very far in the canyons. We ask that all talking/laughing/socializing between 8pm-8am be done indoors with the windows closed, out of respect to our neighbors. Because this is a pure residential setting with no other vacation rentals around, all of our neighbors work regular business hours and need quiet after sundown.
