The House of Light
Description
We found this cabin in Valparaiso, dismantled it and took it to Valdivia: it is made by a Buenos Aires artist/carpenter, with noble demolition wood rescued from elegant harbor mansions, reused beams and windows that structure a space with high ceilings and lots of light. We rebuilt it on an island, on the banks of the Calle-Calle River, we filled it with art and spaces designed to share, enjoy and rest. We're happy to share it and see it flourish. The space The house consists of a large common space that contains the kitchen, dining room and living room, a separate bathroom (sink separate from the toilet and bathtub) and a room on the second floor, which has a double bed and a single bed. In the living room you will find 1 more single bed. The house has a terrace that is accessed from the living room, and a terrace on the river bank. Guest access The property is a 5000 m2 plot, a large flat patio with grass that used to be an apple field, so there are beautiful old apple trees, on the bank of an arm of the river. A rowboat is available to tour the river. It is not advisable to go rowing to the big river if you do not know how to row well, as it may have unexpected currents. The river in front of the house is safe for rowing and bathing, and is perfect for children as it is not deep. Other things to note The cabin is in the countryside and is rustic (it is made with demolition materials). There is a wood-burning stove that will maintain the temperature, but the house does not have modern insulation, I suggest you bring a coat in case it is cold. You will be in the middle of nature, the place is full of life: you will find animals and insects, it is spectacular to see birds and river animals, plants, chinitas, bees, etc.
