Description
Our cottage on the edge of the world was built by hand with regional materials. In a village near the town of Fort Portal (30 min), you will find peace, hospitality and a sense of community. A perfect space for volunteers and vacationers who want to support an organization (even for a longer period of time). House is part of the community organization Kuza Omuto and a local school. So our guests are experiencing the real village life of West Portugal . The space We live in the Ugandan village life. In our outdoor shower you will find a rainwater sun, washed traditionally from a tub. Feel free to boil water for a warm shower. Toilet is a water-saving composting toilet. You have a small kitchen with gas stove and a BBQ on the terrace. On the large outdoor terrace you can enjoy the view and watch the action in the village. Your neighbor is our live school, with soccer field and 5 class rooms. You're welcome here anytime. The school is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Before and after it is quiet and you can end the evening comfortably by the fire. The kids are used to guests, love to you, but also know they need to accept your privacy. Monday to Friday it is possible to participate in the traditional school afternoon dinner for 10k UGX. This helps you support the organization and our school. Guest access Hosts Julia and Sam live right next door, separated from a small eucalyptus forest. Here you can park your car safely. We live on a quiet street and are easy to find, when booking we send a location pin, also we can organize a Boda Boda that will pick you up from the city. There is currently no restaurant nearby. Champions for Breakfast. For UGX 15k per person we make you a breakfast from regional products (coffee, tea, eggs, pancakes, fruit). We then use the money for food shopping for our KiTa, which is right next door. For a surcharge of UGX 10k we do the grocery shopping for you. Other things to note 25% of the income goes to our organization Kuza Omuto. From this we buy materials for our youth center and support children in need in the village. We welcome guests who are open to children and enjoy playing and crafting. New craft ideas are always welcome :) We would especially like to welcome long-term guests who would also like to participate in the everyday life of the school. Our school is an activity school where various afternoon activities are in the foreground. We're excited about new ideas. You are also welcome to spend a few quiet days here.
