Butler’s Cottage is nestled in the heart of beautiful Heysham Village in Lancashire. A minute's walk from the beach, this gorgeous, Edwardian property has been renovated to a very high standard. It sleeps three people comfortably in two beautifully decorated bedrooms. It has a smart TV and internet. The cottage has a log burner-style gas-fire and central heating throughout so in the winter it’s toasty! It's a home-from-home stay with everything you could need for a perfect getaway by the sea. The space The cottage comprises of a cosy lounge with sofa and chairs for comfortable seating and a kitchen diner on the ground floor with two bedrooms and a beautiful shower room and toilet upstairs. The kitchen is new and modern with a cooker, hob, microwave and a washer/dryer. The breakfast bar seats three people, by a window, where you can watch the world go by. All rooms have been decorated to a very high standard with quality furnishings. Butler’s Cottage is a haven for relaxation but could be a great base for exploring this picturesque area of North Lancashire and South Cumbria including The Lake District, if you feel more adventurous! The cottage has a large, front patio with bench seating, and abundant plants and flowers; ideal for relaxing in this sleepy seaside village, it’s also a really good sun trap. At the rear of the property is an elevated patio with a wooden gazebo, decorated with fairy lights and flowers, sit and dine outside in the summer or cosy up under a blanket in the winter with the chiminea lit. The patio area is illuminated with festoon lights creating a relaxing atmosphere and can be used all year come rain or shine! It has a rockery garden that in summer is filled with colourful flowers and plants. The village has a quaint, friendly pub that serves quality food indoors and outside in their beer garden, they even have a pizza oven outside! In the village, St Peter’s is the parish church of St Peter’s, St James’ and St Andrew's Parish, is situated in an enchanting position, overlooking Morecambe Bay. As we see it now, the church dates from the Saxon period (8th century) but the original church was probably Celtic (6th century). St Peter's is right beside the sea with views across Morecambe Bay to the mountains of Cumbria. The church contains many important artefacts including the world-famous ‘Hog Back Stone’ (Viking gravestone). If you’re lucky you may see a wedding in this old, tiny church - perched on the cliff top. In the village, there are several cafes and takeaway options, Deliveroo operates in the area too. A 15-minute walk away, you can find grocery shops, a baker, a post office, a fish and chip shop, a butchers, an off licence and more pubs. In addition to these, there is a micro-pub, serving craft beer and a small wine bar, both are very welcoming. Heysham Village has an excellent bus service with connections to the seaside town of Morecambe and the historic city of Lancaster which boasts a castle, cathedral, maritime museum, city museum and many independent shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. With two theatres and a cinema, Lancaster makes a great day or evening out. If you are a craft beer lover, there are some independent breweries too. If you are feeling more adventurous catch the bus to Arnside, Windermere or Grasmere where there are walking trails and beautiful vistas. In the summertime, Heysham Village hosts many themed weekends including vintage car gatherings and a Viking festival. Morecambe hosts an annual music festival and in September, ‘Vintage by the Sea’, a 1940s-themed weekend. Lancaster hosts festivals throughout the year, an enormous music festival in October and a festival of lights in November all free of charge. Butler’s cottage is close to The Port of Heysham where there’s a direct ferry across to The Isle of Man, another great place to explore. Guest access The whole of Butler's Cottage is available to our guests as well as the front patio and the back, elevated patio. There is plenty of outdoor seating and cushions for guests to use. We encourage our guests to make themselves comfortable and thoroughly enjoy their stay at Butler's Cottage. Other things to note There is plenty of free parking in the village. Some on-street parking and the local village car park are less than a minute's walk away from the property. The charges are 24 hours £3.50. You can also park by the hour. A main bus stop is by the car park, linking the village to nearby attractions. Two supermarkets are a few minutes away by car, or you can catch the bus to the top village shops, roughly five minutes away.
