Rollingside: Two-Room Guest Suite
Two-room guest suite with private entrance located in picturesque Catonsville, MD on a pre-Colonial road originally used for rolling tobacco to the harbor. Downtown Baltimore is 20 minutes away, BWI airport and Amtrak station 15 minutes, and our street is located on a bus route. Beautiful 3.5 mile walk to historic Ellicott City and an hour from Washington, D.C. Individuals and families with children are welcome, but the Airbnb member renting the property must be over the age of 25. The guest suite is a modern addition to a 90-year old brick Colonial house. The bedroom and living room are joined by a full bath with a whirlpool tub. There is a mini-fridge, coffee maker and microwave in the suite, but no kitchen. Storage space is available (closet and chest of drawers, luggage rack). Living room is spacious and comfortable with fireplace, cable TV, skylights, and carpeting throughout. Pool parties and outdoor events for up to 12 people may be arranged for an extra charge - contact hosts for more details. Driveway parking for one car is available just outside suite, or you may park on the side street just around the corner. You will be given the code for the keyless entry on the door. We both work from home so should be personally available to assist you most days. You may also call at any time if you have questions. This part of the East Coast is steeped in history and beautiful natural habitats around the Chesapeake Bay. Most of Rolling Road was settled over a hundred years ago, though our "new" house was built in 1927. Originally the residents came only during the summer to the large, airy homes in order to escape the heat of Baltimore. A trolley line joined downtown to this area for many years, but now the tracks have been turned into lovely walking trails. We are 15 minutes from BWI Airport and Amtrak, and right on the Purple Link bus line that serves downtown Baltimore every 20-30 minutes. If you have the time, the center of Catonsville is a 10-minute walk, and historic Ellicott City is about 45 minutes at a comfortable pace. Driving, it takes about an hour to get to Washington DC (except during commute hours), and just over an hour to get to Gettysburg, PA. We invite guests to use the fireplace during during the heating season. However, there can be a lingering wood fire smell if the fireplace was used recently. We try to air the space out between guests, but some guests are more sensitive to the smell of wood smoke than others. Please consider this if you are booking during the heating season (Nov. thru March).
