A wonderful 18th century stone corn mill, newly restored (2023), and set within 4 acres of tranquil apple orchards, with beautiful views over the river Teme. Ashford Mill is a haven for wildlife lovers, walkers, cyclists, fishermen and botanists, and there is exclusive private fishing included within the price. Just 3 miles from the historic town of Ludlow with its famous castle, restaurants, pubs, assembly rooms, and cinema, Ashford Bridge Barn is the perfect getaway. The space The main accommodation is on the upper 2 floors of this 2 / 3 storey barn, and is accessible via an external stone staircase. There is a large open plan kitchen / dining / living room with gas Central heating plus a log burner for extra cosiness, two bedrooms, one double, one twin, and a shower room. The ground floor, which has an additional toilet, can be used as a drying room or storage for bicycles, etc. There is exclusive private fishing for salmon, trout and grayling and easy access to the river via a small private pebbled beach. A footpath running through the grounds, provides access to the wonderful Shropshire countryside. The river has many species of wildlife including kingfishers, otters, dipper, dragon flies, butterflies, and bats. The ground floor of the barn is largely unaltered with access for nesting birds: swallows, wrens and robins. Ashford Bridge Barn, built in 1796, was originally intended for use as a mill, but after the location of the nearby horseshoe weir was changed, the new larger Ashford Mill was built 100m further downstream. Ashford Mill itself is also on site. All the original workings of this water powered corn mill remain intact, and can be viewed by arrangement with the owners. Guest access Guests have access to the whole property together with most of the 4 acres of grounds, including a stretch of the river bank. Other things to note Dogs are welcome at the property but not in the upstairs accommodation. The ground floor is essentially an unconverted lockable barn where dogs can stay.
