A cute studio apartment in the basement of a newly renovated home. Guests have a private entrance with their own private bathroom. You also have use of a full-size washer and dryer. Other amenities include an honor bar stocked with beer and wine, an arcade style game with over 200 popular titles including Ms. Pac Man, and coffee/tea. Please note that we live upstairs, but the space is private. It is separated by a stairwell and a locking door. It is comparable to a hotel room, but nicer. The space Your health and safety are our top priorities. The entire apartment is cleaned thoroughly after each guest. This includes sanitization of all surfaces and machine washing of all linens, including the bed comforter. We provide plenty of hand soap and hand sanitizer. We expect this will foster a healthy space which allows our guests to enjoy their stay to the fullest. As further precaution, we have added an air purifier to the space. It's very quiet and cleans all of the air through a HEPA filter every 30 minutes. We've also added one to the main floor of the house. We have taken the lessons we've learned from being AirBnB guests and created a comfortable space with lots of extras. They include: Honor bar with beer and wine Multi-Unit chargers on each side of the bed Full array of TV choices through Sling and TabloTV, including HBO and Showtime Keurig machine with coffee and tea provided Soap, Shampoo, and Conditioner in shower Towels, washcloths, and some toiletry items Personalized coded lock for private entry Microwave Oven Hot plate Amazon Alexa Arcade style machine with over 200 titles (Ms. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, etc.) The unit is in a quiet neighborhood in DC. The Metro is a 15 minute walk, bus stops are nearby, and Lyft/UBER are generally available within 5 minutes. The bustling H Street corridor is nearby where you can sample a variety of cuisines and nightlife. We are also close to the Mall using public transport. Further, there are 3 large National Parks within a 5 minute walk if you would like to enjoy a hike. The parks contain deer, wild turkeys, and other wildlife. Our neighborhood is mainly working class and there is public housing nearby. We consider it safe and friendly. The community is tight-knit and is historically African-American. We love our friendly neighbors! The house is secured with a Nest alarm system and both windows in the apartment have sensors. There is also a security camera just outside the basement door, another on the second floor of the house recording the back yard, one covering the side yard, and one for the front. There is a camera in our living room, but there is no camera in the Airbnb space. Guest access You will have private access to the entire space. Please do not come upstairs unless you give notice. We have a cat and a dog who love to dart down to the basement unit if the door is opened. Also, you must obtain pre-approval before having guests over that were not included in the original reservation. Other things to note Our backyard is completely enclosed with a 6 foot privacy fence. It's perfect for letting your pet do its business but be sure to clean up afterwards. You will find extra waste bags in the unit if you need them. You may hear us upstairs walking around, but we are pretty quiet. We go to bed early and get up early. One of us is a teacher and the other a Federal Government employee, so we work very hard. Also, the house furnace, which operates the A/C and heat is in a closet in the space. It makes a noise when it kicks in. Over 6 years of hosting, only a handful of guests have found issue with this. But, if you need a really quiet place, this is probably not a good listing for you. We are in an older house in an urban environment. We don’t find it overly noisy, but it’s subjective.
