The Coop: A rustic retreat only 2 blocks from BART
Description
Experience San Francisco Bay Area living from the privacy and greenery of our custom-built 400 sq ft (37 sq m) backyard tiny home with bedroom loft in the East Bay hills. Only two blocks from El Cerrito del Norte BART station with only 12/20/30 minute rides to Berkeley/Oakland/SF and easy drives to the wine countries of Napa/Sonoma. Bring your walking shoes, you will be in a peaceful neighborhood with plenty of street parking and panoramic views of the City, the Bay & the Golden Gate Bridge. The space We enjoy providing a centrally located homebase from which guests may explore San Francisco and all that the Bay Area has to offer. We call our guesthouse the Coop. It is a 400-square foot (37-square meter) tiny home with a contemporary vibe. With plenty of natural light, a fully outfitted kitchen, a loft bedroom and a ground floor shower bathroom, you will be housed within the privacy of a deep backyard. The Coop is ideal for solo or duo travel and will sufficiently sleep a small family - or three adults provided you all like each other! *** Coop features include a full-sized (54 in. x 81 in. or 134.5 cm x 205.75 cm) bed accessed by a sturdy but steep ship’s ladder (see living room photos), a full-sized sleeper sofa on the ground floor, WiFi, a gas fire pit, washer/dryer access, plentiful free street parking, a pay-per-day option for accessing our Level 2 EV charger, a reading library and a variety of games (Cribbage, Ticket to Ride, SET, Mancala and Bananagram) . ** The Coop does not feature a TV. ** Note for parents of very young children: please be aware that the Coop is not child-proofed and the loft is not a suitable play area for toddlers and very young children. For safety reasons, and because we do not have a safety gate, cabinet locks and outlet protectors, small children should not be left unattended, particularly in the loft and on the ladder. *** Guests will have a full kitchen (complimentary freshly ground coffee/tea, a Chemex pour over coffee maker/French Press coffee maker, an electric kettle, an induction cooktop, a Breville oven, a blender, a rice cooker, a microwave, all pots/pans/sheets, many pantry basics - seasonings, oils, vinegars, soy sauce - for cooking and a nearby Safeway supermarket) and a shower bathroom featuring plush towels, toiletries and a hairdryer. Guests have access to our main house garage to do laundry - detergent and dryer sheets are provided. *** A two block walk to the El Cerrito del Norte BART station, it is an easy ride (or drive) to San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley, and only 40 minutes by car to the hiking trails of Marin's Muir Woods and the wine countries of Sonoma and Napa valleys. El Cerrito backs up to the beautiful regional parks of the East Bay Hills where the hiking trails of Wildcat Canyon and Tilden Regional Parks feature beautiful panoramic views of the entire San Francisco Bay Area. The campus of UC Berkeley is only 3 BART stops away so we are well-situated for visiting Cal parents or families - e.g. Cal Day, Golden Bear Orientation, Alumni/Parents Weekend and Commencement. #GoBears For ideas on things to do while in the area, visit our IG @beourguest510 or scroll through our AirBNB guidebook - A Coop Guest’s Guidebook to the Bay Area. Guest access Entry to the backyard and the Coop is via a smart locked gate off of our primary home's driveway. The well lit footpath follows a flagstone gravel path into our backyard, and descends eight steps down a natural rock staircase with a railing to our lower yard. Guests may feel comfortable using the entire backyard below our primary home and deck. Your hosts Vivian and Mac are friendly and approachable and enjoy being a resource for our guests, so please say hello. We call our guesthouse the Coop because we have egg-layers (aka chickens) on our property. Our backyard garden is shared space - you'll share the yard with your hosts and the "girls", Ivory, Phoebe and Maggie, who we let roam and forage outside their pen in the late afternoons. Guests may do laundry between 7 am and 9 pm inside the garage of our main house - or by arrangement with hosts. Laundry detergent and dryer sheets are provided. An iron, ironing board, stain remover are all available in the Coop. An EV charging option is available for a daily use fee which can be coordinated directly with Vivian or Mac.
