Description

Welcome to Owl's Rest, where you can enjoy a comfortable and relaxing stay in our delightful and cosy Shepherd's Hut. Perfect for those looking for a peaceful and private break, but not ready for the remote and rural. It is situated in a fenced off section of the old farmyard with its own private patio area . The deck is covered for those duller days and is perfect for sitting with a glass of wine or cup of tea, while you enjoy panoramic views over open fields reaching as far as Helman Tor. The space The Hut is in the small hamlet of Treskilling where you can enjoy the peace and quiet, punctuated by birdsong or the clipclop of horses' hooves passing by. That said, Treskilling is just a mile's walk from the village of Luxulyan where the village pub, The Kings Arms, provides excellent food on a daily basis and a friendly welcome to all. There is also a well stocked village store and a Post office. There are many country walks and bike trails nearby, the nearest being the Clay Trails and the beautiful Luxulyan Valley which, with its Viaduct, is a heritage site of great beauty. The Eden Project is a mere 2.9 miles from us. A fascinating place to explore the ecological underworld, rainforest and much more beneath its two main biomes. At Bodmin climb the moorland Tors and explore ancient rock formations or hire a bike and follow the Camel Trail as it winds through breathtaking countryside as far as Padstow. Newquay 35 mins drive, has some of the best surfing beaches in the country. Also easily reachable by the Luxulyan Newquay Branch line which is about a mile distant from Owl's Rest. Charlestown is a fifteen minutes drive away. An ancient harbour, remains a vibrant working port with classic tall ships, beautiful beaches, pubs, restaurants, small local shops. It has a Shipwreck and heritage centre as one of its attractions. Fowey is 20 mins drive away. An historic town and commercial seaport, designated as an Area of Outstanding natural beauty. It has much to offer with an excellent selection of quality shops and galleries together with a plethora of restaurants, pubs and tea shops to suit every taste and occasion. Perhaps take the passenger ferry across to the village of Polruan or the car ferry further up the river that runs from Fowey to Bodinnick. The Gardens of Heligan are slightly further away but well worth a visit and perhaps combine with a visit to Mevagissey a village in Unesco Area of outstanding beauty with it distinctive twin harbours. Full of independent shops and eateries with many side streets to explore. For your information. The Kings Head Public House. 1.0miles Edie's Kitchen (A popular and acclaimed restaurant. Need to book in advance). 3.5miles Penwithick Fish and Chips. 1.3miles Chinese (will deliver, info in Hut) Supermarkets Co-op 1.3miles Aldi 3.2miles Lidl 3.2miles Tesco 3.3miles We hope all of the above will be of some use to you. We hope you will enjoy spending your break at some of the favourite places we have suggested and maybe find some of your own for us to add to our list.
