Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay. The space Casa Castal lies in the peaceful area of Montinhos da Luz, and is 20 minute walk (or 3 minute drive) into Praia da Luz. The small fishing village of Burgau is a 5 minute drive or you can take a beautiful cliff top walk that takes approximately 45 minutes. Lagos is the main town near to the villa and is a 10 minute drive away (buses are available from Praia da Luz). Casa Castal is a detached villa set in a beautifully landscaped acre of land. There are established trees - olives, almonds, lemons, limes, oranges, clementines, nectarine, apricot, fig and pomegranate. There are many native plants and succulents planted throughout the garden. There is a vegetable garden where visitors can help themselves to the ripe produce (and any help with weeding will be appreciated). There are seating areas around the garden sited to get the benefit of shade from the trees, find your preferred garden seat to have a drink or read a book in a tranquil setting. The villa has a large tiled pool area surrounding a 10m x 5m pool, a putting green (artificial grass), a children’s play area, a boules pitch, table tennis and a large lawned area with various lawn games, and a football goal that can be placed there. Alongside the pool is an open air living area with a fully stocked kitchen (including a large Weber gas Barbecue and an electric induction hob), a dining area and a lounge area. It also contains a bar area with bar stools, ideal for sitting and enjoying a beer or glass of local wine. There is a shower/toilet room for use while using the pool/outside kitchen. The villa has recently been renovated and modernised to a very high standard and benefits from all modern conveniences including fibre internet. There are two TV’s with access to many international TV channels. The ground floor contains the bedrooms: the master which contains a super king size bed, that opens directly onto the terrace area which overlooks the swimming pool and garden, and has an en-suite with bath tub and a shower; the second bedroom with a European king size bed overlooks the side garden and has an en-suite shower room; the third bedroom that has 2 single (or one super king size) beds and shares a shower room with bedroom 4, that is set up as a TV room with a king size sofa bed (this room also has access to the terrace by the pool). All the bedrooms have air conditioning and ceiling fans. Upstairs, there is a bright living room (with a large recessed, flat screen TV) that opens up onto a balcony with fabulous views across the garden, to the ocean and to the Monchique mountains (the balcony can also be accessed from the dining room). There is an outdoor sofa and dining table on the balcony, perfect for watching the sun set. Through the archway from the living room is the modern kitchen and dining room. The kitchen includes a dishwasher, 2 ovens, 2 combi ovens/microwaves, 2 plate warming drawers, large fridge freezer, an induction hob, a wine fridge, a bean-to-cup coffee machine, and many electric appliances including an air fryer and a nutri bullet blender. There are fabulous views from the kitchen and dining room, so even doing the kitchen chores can be a pleasure! A washing machine and tumble dryer are also available for guests to use. There is ample space for parking at the property. Praia da Luz and Burgau have a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops, live entertainment is available at some locations. There are two large supermarkets in Praia da Luz, selling both local and international food. Lagos is a larger city and has a number of hypermarkets. Lagos Marina is a lively location with many bars and restaurants overlooking the yachts on the marina, there is live music most evenings. Lagos old town is opposite the marina and is a traditional Portuguese city/town with narrow streets and a good selection of shops, restaurants and bars. This is the place to go if you want your evening entertainment to extend until the early hours. Local activities If you are a golfer then there are four courses within a 15 minute drive of Casa Castal - Boavista (4 minute drive), Espiche (7 minute drive), Palmares and Santo António (15 minute drive to each). Prices vary by golf season - check course websites. Burgau Sports Centre (BSC) is a five minute drive and has a gym, Tennis, Pickle and Padel courts available for hire. BSC have beginners and more experienced groups that are happy to welcome newcomers for a session. Titan fitness is less than a 5 minute walk from the villa. There are also Padel courts at the Ocean Club in Luz. There are a number of riding centres nearby who can entertain both beginners (including children) and the more experienced rider for an introduction to riding or a longer hack. For the water enthusiast there are surf schools in Luz and in Lagos. Lagos Marina is the place to go for boat trips and Canoe hire/trips. Stand up paddle boarding is available on some of the local beaches. There is a large water park, Slide and Splash which is a 25 minute drive. Registration Details 140104/AL
