Stay in a lovely, historical Sears Craftsman Bungalow - stylishly updated for your comfort. Located in Chicago's western suburbs, our home is a 10 minute walk to the Metra train station (Lombard) with easy access to everything the Windy City has to offer. Stay in a lovely and safe suburb while you enjoy our 3 bedroom, 2 bath home, nicely set up for your enjoyment. Cook meals in our well-equipped kitchen, hang out on the huge backyard deck, or walk/bike the Illinois Prairie Path. Please make yourselves at home! One of the bedrooms is set up as a guest suite (private bathroom) in the finished basement. The other two bedrooms & bath are on the main floor. The basement also has a huge sectional couch which comfortably can sleep 2 additional people, or we have an air bed as well. Bedroom 2 has bunk beds (one set with an upper and lower bunk, not 4 total beds). We are near the Union Pacific train line - which is great for access to the city, but you will hear the trains at night. If you are a light sleeper, this may bother you. Of course we are totally used to it, but I want guests to know there are train sounds upstairs. The basement bedroom is very quiet, though. There are stairs - a few to get in, and a full flight going down to the finished basement. Feel free to use the whole house - there is a large washer/dryer downstairs, all appliances in kitchen, desktop iMac computer, collection of DVDs, HDTV (Netflix, etc.), speakers, toys, board games, cards, books - you name it. There is a private backyard with huge deck that you'll have all to yourselves as well. Enjoy the time outside when the weather is good. We just got a brand new Weber grill (charcoal and tools provided) in August 2023. You'll have access to 2 private parking spots behind (not in) the garage. See the house manual for notes on parking additional cars (it can be arranged if needed). I love to cook so you'll find the kitchen especially well equipped. Nice cookware, knives, spices, toaster, coffee grinder, coffee maker, blender, food processor, stand mixer - most are Kitchen Aid brand. The stove/oven is a Viking, dishwasher/microwave are Samsung. We won't be there to welcome you, but we're glad to help by phone, text, or email - anytime. We have a trusted neighbor, a local cleaning person and a handyman who can be contacted if there's a problem we can't handle from a distance. Lombard is called the "Lilac Village" and offers many parks, shops, and bike/walking trails to enjoy. We like to walk to downtown Lombard for coffee or eat at the restaurants like Rebel Kitchen, Ground Level 105, Rosemary & Jean's, or Babcock's Grove House. If you like sweets, walk 4 blocks to a classic Dairy Queen on Main Street. You'll find our street to be friendly with lots of nice trees and sidewalks to stroll around and look at the different styles of houses. Our home is almost 100 years old, like many on our street which have historical plaques, too. The neighborhood is extremely safe. One of the wonderful things about our location is access to miles and miles of lovely outdoor paths - we are 1 block from the Illinois Prairie Path and 1/2 mile from the Great Western Trail. If you are a walker or cyclist, you will love the access to towns from Elmhurst to Wheaton on our path. Tons of cool small suburban downtowns to explore. A short bike ride or nice walk (2 mi.) to Glen Ellyn is a great way to find a fancier meal, Starbucks, or just to explore. For groceries and getting around, having a car is best. However, getting to Chicago by train is a great way to spend the day (or night) without having to deal with traffic and parking. We LOVE going to the city on the train (Metra). Museums, the Lake, all kinds of events, concerts, you name it! We are frequent AirBnB users and travelers ourselves, so we really go the extra mile to make our guests feel at home. It's like you're staying at a stylish friend's house while they are away in Europe (sometimes we actually are!). We always make sure there are plenty of towels, extra supplies, dish soap, hand soap, laundry soap - you name it. You'll find board games, cards, extension cords, USB chargers, a Mac & printer, and every kitchen tool. We try to think of all the things you might enjoy having during your stay. :)
