Description

Welcome to Stoney Pines! Our unique property is perfect for a family get together or a group of friends. Situated in a pine tree forest that our family has helped plant over 3 generations in the upper desert, our property has 3 houses, The Hacienda, The Green Cabin and The Red Cabin. This way everyone can easily gather but still have their own space. The Cabins take you back in time to the 1950s while the Hacienda takes you to Mexico. This property sleeps 14 people with 9 beds and 4 bathrooms. The space An Oasis in the upper desert, our property, Stoney Pines, is a small pine tree forest surrounded by typical desert landscape. We have been lucky because these trees provide an great forest feel, while still being close to town. The layout of our estate is perfect for families or friends getting together as everyone can have their own space but still be close. The houses located here are the Hacienda, Green Cabin and Red Cabin. The Hacienda, normally the meeting place on the property, is a sprawling 1700 sqft single floor home that has an open concept dining room, living room and kitchen area. The guestroom is in the front of the house next to the living room and has 2 Twin sized beds with a full bathroom across the hall. Just down the hallway you will find the Foyer with a designated work space, desk with chair, and the Double French Doors to the enclosed backyard. Just past the Foyer is the large Master suite with en suite bathroom, Cal King Bed and Queen sized bed. The Green Cabin is 1 of 2 cabins on the property that were built in the 1950s. The Green Cabin is the larger cabin and has one bedroom with a Queen and an enclosed back porch with a Queen bed and a Trundle with 2 Twins. There is also a full bathroom in this cabin. The main space of the cabin is designed around the Pot Belly Stove, which is what heats the cabin in winter, but also gives off great ambiance. In this room there is also an AC for those warm summers. The kitchen is a galley style with full size refrigerator, freezer and stove. The Red Cabin is the 2 of 2 cabins and is ideal for a couple or a couple with a small child. This cabin is a Studio with one Queen sized bed. There is a full bathroom and kitchenette. There is a small refrigerator, toaster oven and coffee maker. Guest access Guests will have access to the entire property except the pump houses and our shed. The neighborhood is all dirt roads, but pretty easy to traverse. You will need a car to get around town as this is a rural area and there is no public transportation by the property. Other things to note The Hacienda is cooled using an Evaporative Cooler, Swamp Cooler. These types of AC units are common in desert communities as they are the most efficient coolers for the environment. They typically keep the inside of the house between 20 - 30 degrees cooler than the outside temperatures and add humidity in a typically very dry environment. As this is a pet friendly listing, there is a pet fee of $200 for the entire property per stay should you opt to bring your pet. If you do bring your pet please pick up after them. Due to our pine tree forest sap is a concern. Should you decide to walk around and enjoy the property, please look at your shoes before entering the houses. Should you get sap on yourself or your pet an effective way to get it off is using olive oil. It is very rare, but on occasion the power can go out at this property. As this is a rural area sometimes the power company turns off the power for safety reasons or for updating their equipment without notice. We do our best to keep guests updated on these situations, but we also ask for your understanding while we work through any issues if they come up. We ask that you do not put tents up on the property without asking beforehand. If you move any furniture during your stay, please put it back where you found it. If furniture has been moved and not put back, you will be charged at minimum $50, potentially more, depending on how much furniture needs to be moved back. Should you move any towels, plates, cookware or glasses please return them to the house where you got them. If you do not return them you will be charged at minimum $25 to put everything back. Should you use any games in the back yard, croquet or cornhole, please put it away before departing. Due to the fact that this property is in the upper desert, we have automatic sprinklers that go on once a day in winter and up to 3 times a day during summer. We ask that you do not turn these sprinklers off. On this property is a spa that is currently not operational. We ask that no guests get into this spa as it is not regularly cleaned nor filtered. While this spa does not have a fence, there is a lid on it to keep children and pets safe from falling in. With that said, please do not walk or sit on the lid as you can still damage it. Although close to town, this property is in a rural area so on occasion small bugs do get in the houses including spiders. We make a concerted effort to keep all critters out of the houses, by spraying and having each house checked before check in, but on occasion some critters make their way in and, specifically spiders, can make a web VERY quickly. We do get the occasional wildlife here at the house. There have been sightings of coyotes and bears, so if you are moving around at night just be aware of your surroundings. I am shocked that I have to include this, but please do not damage any of our pine tree forest. Should damage be found please report immediately. If it is found that you have damaged one of our trees (example: hit, shot, peeled bark or attempted to cut or chop) you will be charged a minimum of $300 for the damage.
