Subsequently, it was moved to its present location in Beaufort and two additions were constructed: the present day eat-in kitchen and the middle structure with dinning room, baths and two bedrooms. Architecturally, you will notice the style differences between the family room and kitchen with vaulted ceilings, and the newer middle structure. QUESTIONS? My wonderful cohost Heather is a longtime Beaufort resident, boat captain, and artist who's available locally to make sure you have a great stay. Established in 1709, Beaufort is a quaint coastal town located on Beaufort Inlet, a channel leading south to the Atlantic Ocean. The third oldest town in North Carolina, Beaufort has a residential population of only about 4,000, but the town hums with excitement during the warmer months with visitors from all over the world. Beaufort was first known as Fishtown because the fishing industry was and has been an important part of Carteret county’s history. Beaufort was later named after Henry Somerset, Duke of Beaufort. The early economy of Beaufort was on the use of natural resources in the area. Hence, fishing, whaling, the production of lumber and naval stores, shipbuilding, and farming were the chief economic activities. Though Beaufort had the safest and most navigable harbor of any of the ports of North Carolina, extensive commercial activities failed to develop, owing to the fact that the town was almost completely isolated from the interior. Today it is best known for it's relaxed vibes, beautiful historic homes, and surprisingly great restaurant and entertainment options. There is space for 2 parked cars. Downtown Beaufort is easily accessible by foot, as is the Island Express Ferry Service, where you can take a sunset sail or a ferry to Shackleford Banks, Harkers Island, and Cape Lookout on the Outer Banks. Parking is allowed for two (2) vehicles in the driveway. You must be 25 years of age or older to rent this property.
