Description

Escape with your family to our secluded cabin, nestled in a private neighborhood in the redwoods. Get the best of both worlds with a protected redwood forest for a backyard and a quick seven miles to the beach. Beachcomb and boogie board by day, and enjoy the redwoods by night while roasting marshmallows at the fire pit on the large deck. Play pool, games, toys in the playroom, or watch a movie by the cozy fireplace. Work in the private office or relax in the sauna and freestanding tub. The space With 4 bedrooms and 2 ½ bathrooms, a large group of 9 people can comfortably stay. GATHERING AREAS The main living area is a great room with kitchen, dining, and living room with high ceilings, plenty of seating, and a wood-burning fireplace that heats the home and provides ambiance for the entire great room. For cozy nights in, you can enjoy the warm fireplace while watching a movie on the large Vizio TV with free streaming services (Netflix, Amazon, Max). Enjoy a fully stocked kitchen with island seating for three and dining for eight (table extensions can be added for more seating). BACK DECK From the spacious, private back deck, the whole family can enjoy the forest view over the ravine, roast marshmallows around the wood-burning fire pit in the lounge area, grill just off the kitchen, share meals in the outdoor dining area, or relax on the two hammocks and Adirondack chairs. Additionally, the kids can enjoy the side yard with a slide and outdoor games (such as corn hole, ring toss, safe lawn “darts,” giant jenga, foam hatchet toss, and more). BEDROOMS On the main floor, the ensuite master bedroom has a queen bed with forest views, sliding doors to the deck, bathroom with double vanity, separate shower/toilet room, freestanding tub to soak in while enjoying the view of the redwoods, and an infrared sauna to relax in once the kiddos are asleep. A view of the redwoods can also be enjoyed from each bedroom upstairs. Both the Beach Bedroom and the Forest Bedroom have queen beds, and the Adventure Bedroom has a bunk bed with a queen bed on the bottom and a twin above. PLAYROOM The kids have a separate woodland-themed playroom just off the Adventure Bedroom, as well as games and a pool table on the “bridge” that joins the two sides of the house upstairs. OFFICE For those who need to catch up on a little business, we have a full size office with beautiful custom stained-glass French doors, desk space, a leather couch, and many board games in the secretary. LOCAL AREA Memorable experiences are endless both local and beyond. Take in the unique and popular local flavor of quaint downtown Pescadero. Shop for antiques and local artisan creations, sip a warm beverage at the cool coffee shop, grab sandwiches and delicious made-daily garlic artichoke bread (a must!) at Arcangeli’s or Mexican food at the Taqueria De Amigos restaurant at the gas station (carne asada burritos and fish tacos are faves), or dine at historic Duarte’s Tavern (be sure not to miss out on their olallieberry pie, made fresh daily). On Thursdays, catch the local farmers’ market to get your fresh artichokes, Brussel Sprouts, berries, and much more. Stop by Harley Farms Goat Dairy to see the goats and get some delicious freshly made specialty goat cheeses and delectables. You can also reserve their chic farm-style upper room for celebrations. Hand harvest mussels at Pescadero Beach in season. Plan an idyllic afternoon picking berries at several local “u-pick” farms, or buy fresh at the darling local R&R Fresh Farms market or many farm stands along the scenic Highway 1. Savor some delicious freshly made quiche at the delightful nearby Loma Mar Store. BEACHES Enjoy the many gorgeous “hidden gem” beaches near Pescadero; paddle board on Pescadero marsh; take a hike at nearby Butano State Park, Sam McDonald Park, or Memorial Grove Park to see the giant redwoods and take a family picture at the chimney tree; cycle the scenic, winding roads over Horse Camp or Stage Road; experience the expansive, breathtaking views from Pigeon Point Lighthouse; get up close and personal (but not too close!) with the elephant seals at Año Nuevo State Park; put on your boots for a farm work day and barn dance at Pie Ranch and grab some fresh pie at their charming shop; get massages at the lodge at Costanoa (a popular glamping destination) and play lawn games (like giant chess) after you dine at their delicious Cascade Restaurant & Bar. At the holidays, swing on the giant swings with a view of the Pacific ocean, roast marshmallows, make wreaths, and go on a tractor ride after cutting down your Christmas tree at Rancho Siempre Verde. GREATER AREA After you take in the unique sights and experiences of Pescadero and the surrounding area, you can go south to watch the kite surfers at Waddell Creek Beach, hike to the waterfall at Big Basin State Park, ride an old steam train through the redwoods at the Roaring Camp Railroad, explore the unexplainable at the Mystery Spot, or let go on the rides at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk (an amusement park on beautiful Santa Cruz beach). Heading north, explore picturesque Half Moon Bay, dining and shopping in the downtown eclectic shops; take the kids to pet the animals at Lemos Farm or Pastorino's Pumpkin Farm; view the unique orchids and carnivorous plants at the row of greenhouses on Hwy 92; and delight in the amazing seafood at Barbara’s Fish Trap. In the fall, explore the autumn wonderland by traversing the straw maze at Arata’s Farm and experience the famous Half Moon Bay Pumpkin & Art Festival. In the greater area, you can take in all the sights of San Francisco, ride a ferry to Sausalito, tour Stanford in Palo Alto, enjoy the amusement park rides (and the water park) at Great America in Santa Clara, explore the bizarre and fascinating Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, or visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey. Guest access You can access the cabin by smart lock with an electronic keypad for easy entry at the front door. As backup, we have a physical key in a nearby lockbox. There is also a landline you can use, if needed (no international). The cabin is up an approx. 0.3 mile neighborhood-maintained, one-lane cement road (with turnouts), It is very steep in some sections, and the neighborhood bridge was just repaired after the heavy January 2023 storms. Being a cabin in the redwoods, power can occasionally go out and water can occasionally be interrupted (well system). We have emergency supplies just in case. You can still heat the cabin with the fireplace, and cook on the gas stove (after igniting with a lighter). The cabin is in the forest where wild animals live (e.g., occasional foxes, rabbits, wild turkeys, deer, coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions).
