Description
The Jörgenbauerhütte is located at 1,400 meters on the Gammeringalm on the border of Upper Austria with Styria. In the meadows around the hut, the alpine cattle graze in summer. Since the hut can only be reached via a private forest path, you can only hear the bells of the cows grazing on the alpine pasture. In the fall you can sometimes hear the tube of the deer - nothing else. The space The Jörgenbauerhütte is located on the edge of a total of 6 huts, all of which have a generous distance from each other. In the meadows around the hut, the alpine cattle graze in summer, which underlines the typical alpine character. The cottage has a spacious, well equipped kitchen with large wood stove for cooking, baking and heating. The stove has a water bag, so there is enough warm water when the oven is properly heated. Sufficient electric power is supplied by your own photovoltaic system. The cabin can be reached in summer by car via a slightly steeper, roughly graveled alpine path. With an SUV with four-wheel drive, getting there is no problem. But normal cars make the way just like that, except after heavy rains. In winter, the hut is right next to the slopes in the small but fine ski resort Wurzeralm and can be easily reached by ski or snowboard. There is no other way to reach the cabin in winter. At 4 pm the lift closes after the last ascent. After that you are alone in nature. In order to make the arrival of our guests as pleasant as possible, we will take care of the transport of luggage with a caterpillar vehicle. The ski resort is especially ideal for families with children, because the slopes for the most part have very easy difficulty levels and children can be on their own very early. Other things to note The Jörgenbauerhütte has its own spring, which supplies it with fresh rock spring water all year round. The power supply via the photovoltaic system is sufficient to supply the cabin with electricity over several days even in winter. Cooking, hot water and heating - so all types of energy that need a lot of energy are done with wood on the Jörgenbauerhütte. We can beat this on our alpine pasture where the forest needs to be maintained or dry trees must be taken care of. The good feeling is that the cabin offers a stay that is 100% self-sufficient and sustainable. We are very proud of that.
