Description
The Jörgenbauerhütte is located at 1,400 meters on the Gammeringalm on the border of Upper Austria to Styria. In summer, the alpine cattle graze in the meadows around the hut. Since the hut can only be reached via a private forest road, you can only hear the bells of the cows grazing on the alpine pasture. In autumn you can sometimes hear the deer roaring - nothing else. The space The Jörgenbauerhütte is located on the edge of a total of 6 huts, all of which have a generous distance from each other. In summer, alpine cattle graze on the meadows around the hut, which further underlines the typical alpine character. The cottage has a spacious, well-equipped kitchen with a large wood stove for cooking, baking and heating. The stove has a water pocket so that there is enough warm water when the stove is properly heated. Sufficient electricity is supplied by the photovoltaic system. The hut can be reached in summer by car via a somewhat steeper, roughly gravelled alpine path. With an SUV with all-wheel drive, the journey is no problem. Normal cars can make the way just as well, except after heavy rainfall. In winter, the hut is right next to the slopes in the small but fine ski resort of Wurzeralm and can be easily reached by ski or snowboard. There is no other way to reach the hut in winter. At 4 pm the lift closes after the last ascent. After that, you are alone in nature. In order to make the arrival of our guests as pleasant as possible, we take care of the transport of the luggage with a caterpillar vehicle. The ski resort is especially ideal for families with children, because the slopes are largely very easy and children can be on their own very early. Other things to note The Jörgenbauerhütte has its own spring, which supplies it with fresh rock spring water all year round. The power supply via the photovoltaic system is sufficient to supply the hut with electricity for several days even in winter. Cooking, hot water and heating - all types of energy that require a lot of energy are done with wood at the Jörgenbauerhütte. We cut this on our alpine pasture where the forest needs to be cared for or dry trees need to be cared for. The good feeling is that the hut offers a stay that is 100% self-sufficient and sustainable. We are very proud of that.
