Welcome to our spacious and airy, sunlight's bright comfy apartment in Fenetre Mermoz neighbourhood (next to the ex- President's house, so it's very secure). Wake up to the sounds of birds and enjoy large windows, garden views, the sea breeze, and two terraces. Three comfortable bedrooms (each with working desks and ensuite bathrooms), well-equipped modern kitchen, living & dining room, all furnished with care. Close to Club Olympique, Sea Plaza, convenient shops, Brioche Dorée, n Auchan Mermoz. The space The flat on the first floor (or second floor for US) provides an ideal gateway and home base for your stay in Dakar: spacious, comfortable, and safe, amidst greenery but near to shops and cinemas, and close to the sea and centrally located to everywhere you need or want to go. What makes this apartment special is that with its high ceilings, large windows, and well-dimensioned rooms it is very bright and airy. The moment you come in you will feel at home. Open the windows and enjoy the fresh breeze coming in from the nearby Atlantic wafting through the rooms. Once you come in from the tree-lined street, you will enter a small garden patio leading to your self-contained flat on the first floor. There is a central living area with lounge area and dining table connected to an open-plan modern and fully equipped kitchen. From the living area, there are three bedrooms. One has floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides, and its own terrace overlooking a verdant green garden – a nice place to sit in the evenings. Of the two other bedrooms, one is opening to another terrace. Both have wooden four-poster beds from which to look outside.The third room has a double-decker bed, much loved by children. Each bedroom has its ensuite bathroom, cupboards, and bedside lights. The space is also designed for working effectively; each bedroom has a desk, featuring working lights. Ethernet cable cat6 can be provided additional to the wifi (standard 100 Mb/s). Throughout, furnishings are to a high standard and chosen with attention to detail (until recently, we ourselves lived in the flat). The house is in the quiet and very secure Fenetre Mermoz area. Even though you are on a green street, it is 470 meters to a bakery open till midnight offering wonderful croissants (or grilled chicken, if you prefer). While small shops are nearby, it is about 15 minutes’ walk to a large Auchan hypermarché and Decathlon sports store where you’ll find most things you might possibly need. Children can walk on their own to the International School of Dakar, ISD, just around the corner. The modern Sea Plaza shopping centre is a short taxi ride down the Corniche. For a little walk, it is 400 meters to a nice spot overlooking a cliff watching the sunset over the sea. 10 minutes walking further and you’re at the “divinity beach” where the fishermen bring in their fresh catch. Alternatively, just one house down the road, there is maybe Dakar’s prettiest little park ideal for children. In walking distance, Senegal’s largest cinema complex has just opened (sporting a nice bar on the roof). From Mermoz area it is easy to grab a taxi for 2 or 3 dollars (or a bus for the more adventurous) to either downtown, the restaurants in Almadies, or the beaches in Mamelles, Ngor, of Yoff. This will save you a lot of time spent in Dakar’s traffic compared to other more peripheral locations. My husband and I are living next door on the basement, so just let us know if you need anything. We may provide a bicycle upon request if you let us know in advance. We would like you to really feel at home at our place and are looking forward to welcoming you as our guest. Guest access You have the whole apartment to yourself with a separate entrance from the street. There is a patio downstairs with a nice sitting area amidst flowers and plants. Other things to note Cool drinking water is continuously provided by a water dispenser. Therefore you don't need to buy and bring water bottles during your stay. Also, there's a TV with full Netflix account.
