The house is in the village of Agioi Deka which is built on a verdant hill located at an altitude of 170 m. It is located east of the archaeological site of Gortyna and it is believed that the cemetery of the ancient city was located there. It is argued that many of the houses in the village have been built with building material from the ruins of the ancient city, while the museum of Gortyna exhibits findings from the area of Agioi Deka.
