Apartment in the courtyard house ensemble of an artist (Gerhard) with an art affine woman (Heide) in the center of a small town near Vienna. Step in and take a look behind the inconspicuous street facade... Indirect access via the street-oriented rooms of a gallery that can only be visited by strangers by appointment. The space Quiet studio apartment in the garden wing of the ground floor with private exit to the garden. In front of the studio is a partially two-story conservatory with views and access to the courtyard. From each room of the apartment - kitchen - anteroom to the bathroom/toilet - bedroom - garden room - a glazed door leads into the conservatory and from there a door into the courtyard. All rooms of the apartment are openly connected - no doors. The only door inside the apartment is a semi-transparent sliding door from the anteroom to the bathroom/toilet with mechanical ventilation. All doors of the apartment can be locked to the outside - to the garden, the gallery and the conservatory. The lockable area of the apartment is reserved exclusively for our guests. Guest access The conservatory is shared by our cat "XiaoMao" (Chinese for "little cat"), as its independent entrances and exits (cat flaps) are located in the conservatory. Open doors make her basically curious, even if she knows that the studio apartment is taboo for her, her curiosity will prevail over her guilty conscience in unobserved moments. Like the courtyard and garden, our guests can also use the rooms of the gallery on the ground floor as extended lounges. The courtyard, garden and gallery are, so to speak, meeting zones with us, with our friends and visitors. Other things to note The basic substance of the house is more than 150 years old, even if it looks very modern. The studio apartment is not accessible. There is a step down from the gallery to the cooking/dining area and 2 steps up from the anteroom to the bathroom/toilet. In addition, there are small thresholds at the doors to the conservatory. The shower is only 70 x 90 cm. The lockable part, the studio apartment is 43 m², the sunroom about 20 m², the gallery rooms are best left as a surprise. All rooms of the apartment are only indirectly ventilated via the conservatory, with the exception of the garden room, which also has a door to the garden. The bathroom/toilet has mechanical ventilation via the roof, but not the cooking/dining area. Therefore, warming up/preparing odorous meals should be done with caution. We are working on a workable solution.
