Private barn with stunning views.

Wendale Barn is a beautifully renovated, compact, detached building, the perfect place to relax on the edge of Cheddar. With private patio, decking and stunning views of the reservoir and Glastonbury Tor. Private, romantic, the ideal getaway, with double bed upstairs and sofa-bed in the living room; although it is open plan, so the shared space isn’t private. Access is via a run of steps up the hillside, some garden terraces are up to 1.1m high, without guardrails and there is a shallow pond. The space The bijou, country-chic, open-plan interior has a contemporary twist and a warm, cosy, 'home from home' feel. It is located over two floors and is absolutely ideal for two guests although will sleep up to four with the sofa-bed. As the sleeping arrangements are not private, the accommodation primarily suits a couple, however, a small, close family, or friends who are relaxed about sharing the open-plan space will also find it very comfortable. The ground floor has a cosy living area, with a three-seater sofa-bed and armchair, a compact, well-equipped kitchen, including an island unit, dishwasher, Nespresso machine, domino hob, fridge (no ice box) and combination microwave/oven/grill. There are also two tall bar stools (with backrests) at the breakfast bar and a bench seat with storage underneath, at the foot of the stairs. There is a wood-burning stove, central heating and a wall-mounted TV with access to Netflix etc. On the first floor is the double bedroom and ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. There is plenty of surface and cupboard storage space as well as a a shower caddy for toiletries in the bathroom, plus a good number of clothes hangers and storage shelves/drawers in the bedroom. There is also a generous fold-out desk/workspace upstairs, with 103mbps (confirmed) internet and fabulous south-facing views. You will find two folding stools stored behind the clothes hanging area, for use at the workspace, or for additional seating downstairs, at the breakfast bar. We provide all bed linen and towels for guests. The overall internal floor space of the barn is 370 square feet or 34 square metres. Guest access You will have Wendale Barn entirely to yourself, as it is a detached building located up the hillside from the main house. You can use the wooden decking alongside, which has fabulous views of the area. There's also a spacious paved terrace, where you can use the BBQ and firepit, but please never use either on the wooden decking or grassed areas. NB: Please note, if you have small children, there is an exposed shallow pond (350mm deep) with five koi carp in residence and no handrails on the steps, patio or decking. Also, as access to the property is via a number of steps up the hillside, it is not suitable for wheelchair users, or those with restricted mobility. My husband and I live in the main house, which has separate access and outside seating areas and a charming sloping garden (shared with hosts) is situated between the two buildings. There is subtle lighting for the outside areas which creates a lovely effect after sunset and the outside stairs and pathways are illuminated after dark.
