Description

You will be comfortable in this spacious and unique space. This was formally a Two Roomed School house built in the early 1950’s. Fully renovated with modern amenities while keeping the charm of the schoolhouse. High ceilings and lots of windows make the space bright and airy. Sit back on the sofa and watch local boats on the Tickle. ( waterway between the 2 islands) If you prefer hiking, we are located on the famous Squid Jiggers Trail, hike on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The space The former classroom is now an open concept kitchen, dining area and living room. The master bedroom was once the porch and cloak room. The 2nd bedroom was once the washrooms for the 2 classrooms. The now bathroom was once the principles office and the now porch was once the staff room/ nurses room. All of the rooms have been transformed . The property sits in front of the once United Church and it overlooks the Tickle. Lots of windows in the front for the most spectacular view. Sit on our deck sipping your coffee or tea as the locals use their speedboats on the tickle. You can hear the roar of the Atlantic Ocean and smell the salty air. Guests are welcome to use our picnic basket and blanket and take a short walk to Peter’s Cove behind our building for a picnic. The Squid Jiggers Trail is located behind our building as well. It is a 45-60 min hike one way. Hike on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, in season icebergs frequent along our shorelines as we are in Iceberg Alley. There is only one grocery store on the island, it is a general store. They are not open on Sundays. There is nowhere on the island to get alcoholic beverages such as beer or liquor. There are 2 restaurants that are open seasonal. There is a couple of craft stores, interpretation centre, Old Shoppe Museum and a Newfoundland Pony Refuge. Change Islands is known to be the Fishing Stage Capital of the World. Red ocher stages line the shorelines. A photographers paradise. Sunsets that you will never forget.. Other things to note We are seasonal. Depending on weather. We open in May and close the last of October. The museum and restaurants are seasonal and usually close the middle of September.
