Description
Beautiful Victorian Semi with free on street parking opposite a spectacular park with immaculate bowling greens, a stream and a cafe serving snacks and cream teas. We've spent 4 years restoring it's classic splendour and we're ready to show it off. Close to the M4 and central Newport. Within walking distance of the newly refurbished Newport Market, the train and bus station and 15-20 minutes drive to Cardiff City centre & Principality Stadium. *There are steps to the front door and rear garden* The space A small double room with private ensuite shower room. This quiet bedroom at the rear overlooks the large terraced garden. It has a small chest of drawers and a double bed. Shower gel, shampoo and handwash is provided, along with a hairdryer. Wifi is available in all rooms and we have 2 separate lounges with TVs (Virgin Media, Netflix & Amazon) in both. Please note that our home is a sympathetically restored 19th-century Victorian house (built in 1898). Many original features remain — including encaustic tiled floors, roll top bath, fireplaces, and antique furniture. These have been carefully preserved rather than replaced with modern materials. As a result, some surfaces may show historic patina or wear consistent with a home over a century old — this is part of its charm rather than a lack of cleanliness. In the garden we have a 2 person Lay-z Spa hot tub which is available during the summer. (We make an additional charge of £10 per day for its use, to cover maintenance and heating). There is also a garden pagoda/bar. Guest access This is our family home so please expect to share facilities with us during your stay. The kitchen is shared with other guests. You will have use of the lounge, kitchen and garden/patio areas which are also shared with us. We also have a very elderly cat called Misty who wanders around but we try to keep her out of the bedrooms (unsuccessfully mostly!). There will usually be someone at home to greet you, but we also have a key box outside should you get locked out at any point. We also have a cleaner once a week to clean bathrooms and bedrooms. During your stay We love cooking and entertaining, so you're welcome to join us. We're happy to socialise with guests and provide information about local amenities and transport. We also have a very old but quiet cat (we don't allow her into bedrooms or upstairs) Other things to note There are 7 steps to the front door. Parking directly outside is for registered permit holders only. Please park on the opposite side of the street which has unrestricted parking. We live in a conservation area in Newport which means that some elements of the house are protected. The tiled floors, fireplaces, front door and roll top bath are all original features and are over 125 years old. The quarry tiles in the downstairs bathroom are very old and worn, but we have chosen to keep them because they are part of the heritage of the house.
