Description

* Portscatho Eco Retreat is a unique, eco-friendly studio. It enjoys the best of both worlds, being situated in a peaceful edge of village countryside location, yet only a short walk to the centre of Portscatho village, the harbour and stunning local coast with its secluded beaches, coast path and creeks. Idyllic location for singles & couples to enjoy a relaxing, peaceful & cosy Cornish break at any time of year. Close to local wedding venues & free private parking included - rare for Cornwall! The space Based on the stunning Roseland Peninsula, an area of outstanding natural beauty, we are happily situated in a peaceful spot on the edge of Portscatho village, only a couple of minutes walk from the famed Standard Inn of British 'sustainable dining' chef Simon Stallard and also beautiful Gerrans Church. With a few further steps to beaches, creeks, coast paths, galleries, shops, water sports hire and eateries, including the much loved Plume of Feathers pub. If your dream day is a morning cuppa listening to birdsong, a lazy breakfast, then a walk along the coast path with wild swimming, lunch at the acclaimed Hidden Hut on Porthcurnick Beach, followed by an afternoon exploring the area, finishing off with dinner in a local pub or restaurant - all within easy walking distance from your doorstep - then this is the place for you! Accommodation The Eco Retreat is a fully self-contained, ground floor studio in a unique, architect designed ecologically aware house. Every effort has been made to make the building as green as possible. Having been created with the environment at its heart, it is ‘almost’ entirely off-grid living with a ground source heat pump for underfloor heating and hot water, private water source via borehole and solar supplying electric power. We are connected to mains electricity for back-up and we even have our own (off site!) sewerage processing plant. The studio is managed sustainably and every effort is genuinely made to achieve this goal. The property is most suited for short breaks with a modern open-plan living/kitchen/dining area comprising a two-ring hob, extractor, combi/microwave oven, fridge with freezer shelf, dishwasher and a Nespresso coffee machine. There is a dining table & chairs, comfy leather sofa, wall mounted TV, plus free WIFI provided and a Cornish Welcome Hamper is gifted to all guests, with milk provided for a welcome cuppa on arrival. For your comfort and privacy, a cosy bedroom is tucked away behind large fitted wardrobes, providing plenty of storage beside the king size bed. There is an ensuite shower room with a 'wet room' style shower, basin with storage drawer, toilet and heated towel rail to keep your towels dry. Please note: *Although the property is all on one level internally, there is a step up into the studio so may not be suited for those with mobility issues. **Due to allergies, we are sorry but unable to accept any pets. Outdoor Space In addition to the above, the studio has private off-street parking for one car (rare for the village!), a small outdoor seating area overlooking the seasonal wildflower garden, with bench at the front for morning coffee or sundowners where we get some spectacular sunsets. We also have an EV charger which can be used to charge electric vehicles, upon request, at an extra charge paid locally. If you would like to use the EV charger during your visit, please let us know so we can arrange this for you. Guest access The studio is completely self-contained so you have access to all areas in the studio. Other things to note We provide free off-road parking for one vehicle, however please note, the property is situated on a private, unmade country lane, so perhaps not ideally suited for low profile cars. However, free on-road parking is available on Churchtown Road, a minutes walk away if you want to bring your sports car! There is an infrequently used public footpath running alongside Well Lane leading down to the creek and along to Percuil.
