LayZ Acres Yooperlite Camp
Get away from it all and unplug yourself from modern reality and relax in nature. Yooperlite Camp is a private minimalist forest camp site consisting of 8 X 12 bunk cabin with a small porch. This cozy, secluded camp is located about 1000 feet into a mixed hardwood forest on a single track secluded trail at the back of the property. There are 4 other camps on the property "Quartzite Camp", "Sandstone Camp" and "Slate Camp” and Granite Camp. See additional information in The Space and Guest Access The space This site includes use of the community kitchen, WIFI , bathroom, and showers at the main LayZ Acres grounds which is a short walk down the trail. There are solar powered lights in the cabin and outhouse, USB phone charging port, a traditional pit outhouse, a propane grill with a side burner, and an outdoor fire pit stocked with wood. No wifi, showers, tv, electricity, or other distractions are available at the camp site. Phone service is spotty at best. The sleeping area is a full size bed. There is enough parking space and turn around for one vehicle at the camp. Trailers, oversize vehicles, and low clearance cars are not recommended to drive down the trail but can be parked in the field in the front of the property. Bears are rare sighting but they are in the area. Please be mindful of unattended food or things that may attract them. Guest access Shared amenities include a full community shed kitchen, shed bathroom shower house and outdoor shower. There are 3 other camps on the property, each with their own “yard”. Your yard will include a private fire pit stocked with firewood, propane grill, chairs, and picnic table. Frequent sightings of deer, turkeys, and other wildlife among the many fruit and berry trees are common from the camps. Other things to note You may bring up to 2 additional guests and a tent. This is fairly primitive site with modern amenities near by. There is no running water at the site. Water jugs are provided and there is water spigot at the trail entrance. This is in the UP so there will be natures creatures all around you. This includes bears and wolves. No A/C or heat. A downhill 1.3 mile trek on a lightly traveled paved country road will bring you to a small public access of weathered sandstone shoreline on Lake Superior. A 4 mile jaunt will bring you to one of the most beautiful sandy public beaches in the area close to historic Pequaming. A quick drive on a gravel road brings you to scenic Point Abbaye or a few easy access waterfalls within 15 miles. Cellular service is spotty at best but there is wifi available in the camps. Your hosts live a few miles away and are available day and night to keep your stay comfortable and can provide local knowledge for your adventures.
