Description

Relax at this peaceful cottage in a lovely elevated position. It is a 2 bedroom end terrace property newly converted and was formerly part of a 16th Century manor house. The property is situated on Stonebarrow Lane, in an elevated position with west-facing views across the valley from the patio – ideal for sitting outside on long summer evenings. Easy walking distance to the village amenities of Charmouth and a 15 minute walk to the beach for fossilling. The space This stylish holiday cottage has a large main living space with dining area, fully equipped kitchen and downstairs WC. There are 2 double bedrooms, one with an ensuite and a full-size family bathroom . One of the bedrooms can be either a double bed or a twin room. There is a private outside area with a spacious covered terrace – ideal for alfresco dining and parking for 2 cars just outside. Broadband speed (Sky Superfast) normally available - download 75.9Mbps, upload 18.6Mbps. Guest access All of the cottage is available to guests including the private outside area, covered dining area and west-facing views across the valley from the patio at the front. Other things to note Charmouth has some great shops, there is an excellent Pharmacy, a local bakery and, to eat, choose from The Bank House Café or Charmouth Fish Bar & Pizzeria on The Street, or the Beach Café or Soft Rock Café Kiosk at Charmouth beach. Head for Charmouth beach for fossil hunting and more – it’s a 15-minute walk from Stonebarrow Manor to the beach for fabulous coastal views west towards Lyme Regis and east towards Golden Cap. If you fancy heading for the hills from Stonebarrow Manor – turn left out of the driveway and it’s a 20-minute walk up (it’s definitely up, so you might want to go in the car) to the National Trust (pay and display) car park at the top where views and walks from there towards Golden Cap are stunning. After a busy day, why not take a walk into the village to either of the pubs for a pint, a glass of wine or a bite to eat? Quench your thirst or dine out? There are also 2 local pubs – The Royal Oak (serving tasty seasonal dishes) and The George Inn (providing a selection of pub grub). You will find plenty of shopping in neighbouring towns and villages, the nearest of which include Lyme Regis and Axminster to the West and Bridport and Dorchester to the East, all of which hold regular market days. In Dorset, Lyme Regis is 3 miles away, Bridport 7 miles, West Bay 8 miles, Dorchester 25 miles and Weymouth 25 miles. Heading west into Devon Axminster is 6 miles away, Seaton 12 miles, Beer 14 miles, Sidmouth 20 Miles and Exeter is 32 miles. There are also lots of farm shops and local artisan producers that sell a variety of foods, drinks and products throughout the region.
