(And yes—our cabins are dog-friendly!) What to love about this cabin: Looking for a place on the water in Northern Door? Porte Haven is the literal "tip of the thumb" of Wisconsin, and the previous owner called it the "top of the world" because you are RIGHT on the water and feel like you're on a boat, portholes, and all! The cabin sits on a bluff with stairs down to the water where you can swim and take in the scenery. The house itself is an upscale cabin that was built on top of an old boathouse, which now has been converted into a fun hangout entertainment area with a pool table, darts, and more games. The boathouse is two stories high and feels almost like a loft with exposed ceilings, brick walls, and open concept. Porte Haven sleeps a maximum of 8 people (6 adults + kids (children under 3 are FREE)) and includes a master bedroom with a king bed, a bunk room with 4 twin beds perfect for kids, a guest room with a queen bed, one more king bed in the boathouse basement.. You'll experience 3 spa-like bathrooms, including one with a sauna in the shower with an essential oil diffuser, another with a Kohler soaking tub, and an infinity sink that spills over the top and drains into the floor. Catch views of Washington Island from the third bathroom's one-sided porthole window—and don't worry, no one can see you from the other side! The sunroom is the star of the whole house. It has a metal roof so rain sounds like pure magic, plus waterproof drapes that allow you to sit out there to watch a storm roll over the lake or a place to hangout outside, bug free! The views at Porte Haven are beyond spectacular. You can see four islands, and the Washington Island Ferry goes by every hour—plus, the ferry is only a short walk away. Death's Door is famous in Door County for all the old, sunken ships, and Port Haven looks right at it. The cabin feels very private, but there's also an energy and vastness to all that's happening on the water surrounding it. Guest access It couldn't be easier with self-check-in on our keypad with code sent to you prior to your arrival date.
