Kloofhuisie, Klooftent & Bloekomtent

Get away from it all with a breath-taking view of the Swartberg mountains from within a kloof. A tiny restored old farm house and two spacious repurposed tents, in a beautifully valley outside Ladismith. We would love to share this special family retreat of ours with others, to enjoy as we always do. The space Accommodation: In the Kloofhuisie there are two small bedrooms, an open plan kitchen and living room and a bathroom. One bedroom has a double bed and the other has two single beds. Adjacent to the Kloofhuisie there is a patio and an outside bathroom. In the Klooftent (which is one big tent, no dividers) we have a queen size bed. Then additionially there is one campbed with a campmatress, which I mostly recommend for children. In the Bloekomtent we have a double bed and a single bed. This tent is divided to include a bathroom. (Should you wish to exclude the Bloekomtent from your booking, you can search on Airbnb for only the "Kloofhuisie and Klooftent" listing) The smalll kitchen is inside the Kloofhuisie, but this property is all about the out doors, including cooking outdoors. For cooking inside there is a two plate gas stove, microwave, kettle and you can try your hand at a dish in the wood stove. For cold storage there is a bar fridge in the kitchen (it has a tiny freezing space) and a standing fridge as well as a box freezer in the outside bathroom. For cooking outside there is a wood smoker and several extras such as blackpots, a varkie oven and pizza oven that can be used on the fire. Guest access Guests have access to the whole space where the house and tents are situated. This includes a 8 seater hottub (or small swimming pool in summer), hammocks under shady trees, some mountainous area next to the living spaces to explore and a bonfire pit for late night sitting under stars. There are pigs to observe, but please don't enter. A short 5minute walk away alongside the mountain on a gravel path (from Kloofhuisie walk towards road and turn right before gate) is a shared farm dam where guests can also cool off. Other things to note To fully enjoy your stay with us, you will need firewood to heat up the donkey (although there is a solar geyser with limited warm water supply) in order to have a lovely hot bath or outside shower. You will also need wood to heat the hottub, should you wish to spend some time relaxing in it. The bonfire boma is another wood driven enjoyment. One sack of wood is included in your booking. Additional wood may be bought on site with prior arrangement, but if you can bring your own please do.
