Description
This rustic, yet modern, mountain cabin was designed as a retreat space for guests to be able to connect with nature. Nestled within an intentional green community, you'll enjoy a serene sense of privacy without feeling isolated. Wake up to breathtaking, tree-framed views from expansive windows and get cozy on the porch with a book and soft blanket or walk the private hiking trails. Amenities include a fully equipped kitchen, high-speed internet, Nespresso coffee, teas, and yoga mats. The space This property is accessed via a gravel road. There are stairs to climb to the front entrance. There are two floors and a loft. The first floor has a kitchen, living room, large window seat, counter/barstools and two person table for dining. The living room couch pulls out to a full-size bed. There is also a front porch and lighted, screened-in back porch with picnic table. The basement floor contains a full-size washer/dryer, bathroom with shower (no bathtub), office space, and bedroom with queen bed. The loft is accessed with a steep ladder, and it is not safe for small children. We have a futon up there, but we do not count the futon as part of the sleeping arrangements, as the loft is for storage and difficult to access. If you do access the loft, use it at your own risk. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, baking sheet, Ninja blender, Nespresso coffee maker, Aeropress, French press, paper towels, basic condiments (salt, pepper, olive oil), and Pur water filter. We provide Nespresso pods and a variety of teas. If you prefer ground coffee, you will need to bring your own. The bedrooms and living room have charging hubs with a variety of cables (micro-USB, USB-C, Apple Watch, iPhone). There is a smart TV in the living room for you to use with any of your streaming subscriptions (be sure to log out of them when you leave!) We have board games, coloring books, and some knitting needles to share (in the wicker baskets under the window seat). There are two yoga mats and one meditation bench for guests to use as well. There is a flashlight and two headlamps by the front door, along with a set of disks for disk golf. (Use floatable disks for the goal near the pond of water.) The water is well water. It is tested regularly for safety. It does contain some sediment. We have a whole house filter to remove the sediment, plus a Pur water filter in the fridge for drinking and cooking water. We strongly recommend using the filtered water for taste and aesthetic reasons. Guest access You will have access to all rooms and appliances. My family and I visit occasionally, so some closet and shelf spaces are private and contain our personal items. Guests have access to one large dresser drawer, one nightstand table with two small drawers, one shelf of a medicine cabinet, one luggage rack, and one pantry shelf near the kitchen. The refrigerator door, pantry, two freezer drawers, and cabinet above the stove contain our personal food items. The refrigerator is smaller than a typical one, but still full-size and has plenty of room for your food. Other things to note Note: This area of Western NC suffered damage from Hurricane Helene. The Bluebird Nest is fine, but there are trees down in the surrounding woods. Some trails in the community are blocked by fallen trees, but there are still places to hike in the community and surrounding areas. Our property manager can assist you with finding local adventures, businesses, and eateries that are open and worth a visit. Also, this is a rustic location in the woods, so it is not easily accessible for those with physical disabilities or young children. There are wildlife about, mostly deer, but you may see other critters around. The backyard of the property is on a steep slope so it isn’t very accessible. Bring hiking boots if you want to explore the nearby trails. The house is about 20 minutes from the nearest town, so be sure to stock up on supplies on your way over! Our house rules include the following: - No guests under 25 unless accompanied by a parent. - No parties or events are allowed.
